Forums - Gaming - Remasters aren't bad, but having the one major summer first-party game be one is.

Yeah, but it shows you could have just nothing instead of just TLOU. TLOU or any remake is not the problem. Having not any big release for 3 months is.

Blame the costs, the economy, the studios, EA, players, but don't blame TLOU remake, because the probability ND could have shipped a brand new IP for PS4 this summer is very low, and the probability TLOU remake made big releases stop for 3 months is about 0.

I'm not happy about a game I've already played being remastered, but it is better than nothing, I agree. I don't think that a Naughty Dog game was necessary, but it's something. Once again, not my kind of game, but for the people who really like it, it's good for you guys.

In no way do I oppose the remaster. I just wish there were other options as well.

Myself I'm not interested in playing it again, even if I did love the original game on the PS3. I don't even argue about it, some people will hate it, other people will buy it again as a remaster, and other people will play it for the first time. But I really think TLOU remake has no connection with the total lack of big release, which indeed is a problem. If your title was "there is no big new release this summer" I would totally agree.

remasters arent bad, but its when sony does.

Not at all. It's only when there are no other games to go along with the remaster in question.

Like, seriously, Playstation has always been my primary gaming console, so how can you assume that?

So, then you're simply phrasing this whole situation wrongly.  You're blaming the TLOU remaster, for something that's pretty much not related to the TLOU remaster, anyway.  There's really nothing that suggests if the TLOU R didn't exist, Naughty Dog would have UC4 out by now.  So why is TLOU the issue?  The actual issue, as it seems, is with Sony's launch window in the first year (specifically the summer), correct?

While the lack of a 'new' (quotes, because to some TLOU R is new) title doesn't really bother me, I can see your point.  I just think using TLOU as part of your complaint is misplaced, which is why you're getting the responses you are (Plus, let's face it, the amount of threads made for this particular game is bordering on the absurd).

I agree that the threads for the game is absurd, but most of them are people slamming others who don't agree with the remaster. I'm just trying to show the other side of things.

Truthfully, I'm fine with the remaster. It's just frustrating not having any other major game come out in almost four months to go along with it.

It's just a con really. I loved TLOU and completed it on all modes and did all the side stuff etc. Great game!

However to get the remaster is about £40 here. You could by the PS3 version for around £10.

Where is "here"? In UK?

  • new TLOU PS3 (without DLCs) = £25 + Season Pass = £16
  • new TLOU:R PS4 (with DLCs included) = £35

Or are you comparing prices of used software without DLCs with new prices which include DLCs?

But isn't that precisely the problem?  The issue isn't the game itself, it's Sony's launch windows, which have nothing to do with TLOU, right?   I understand the frustration, I do.  But, tieing TLOU into this issue seems like misplaced blame to me.  I think the argument would've come across with more clarity without pointing at TLOU R, myself.

This summer is extremely barren for all of the big 3. I remember the first year of the 360 being much better and with backwards compatibility it really makes the ps4 and xbox one look awful in comparison.

I don't think remasters are bad but I think it sends bad signals out when you don't care enough to include backwards compatibility with your console and then you remaster a 1 year old game.

MLB the show came out in the summer...........

MLB was also on PS3, and only appeals to a small portion of gamers overall. Not too many people are baseball fans these days.

Wasn't MLB like #3 on NPD last month. That's a pretty major release.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
