Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Problem -- There Simply Isn't Room For 3 Consoles

Last gen showed that there is plenty of room for three consoles.

Nintendo just screwed up with the Wii U big time this time around. Hopefully they learn their lesson and go back to the drawing board for a more appealing console next time around.

I think we should see if Microsoft really do pull ahead over of the Wii-U over the next year and a half before saying its Nintendo's problem. I think that if Nintendo hang in their Microsoft are more likely to cave. - Especially if the Nintendo Fusion is as cleverly executed as many of us hope.

Even the "budget console" thing is problematic at least this gen because the PS3/360 basically will serve that market for the next 3-4 years with tons of cheap games available and eventual sub $200 price points.

Let me stress again that I'm not talking about the Wii U.  It's too expensive.  However, if it were at the $199 price point right now, I think it could do some damage, especially over the holiday season.

Nintendo is also going to need to catch the attention of more kids.  That probably means bringing Pokemon or a kid-centric new IP to their home consoles.  I'd bet my dog that adults are the ones getting excited over Mario or Zelda, much more so than kids.  They need a new software homerun.  Perhaps it's time to talk to Level-5 about Youkai Watch.

That, or they can coerce parents into buying a budget system with some Bible Chronicles video-games.

Nintendo was here first they should stay

Pretty sure Atari was doing gaming stuff before Nintendo..

Well theyre not still in the console buisness though...

Yeah but Dark said they were here first and that is incorrect lol. Still though they stayed Atari....left lol.

And I may be mistaken but before the PS1 weren't Sony and NIN together? I can't remember but I am pretty sure that they were.

People keep acting like the GameCube was the odd man out of its generation. The proper narrative of the 6th generation is the PS2 dominating everything and Xbox and GameCube battling it out for scraps. I even recall this whole "Microsoft vs Sony" myth dominating at the time it was going down, although the myth was cemented by the more direct Microsoft/Sony clash of the following generation (though Nintendo got ignored there for other reasons...)

Nintendo has butchered many of my favorite series. Unfortunately, I'm still a Nintendo fan at heart, since they did make my first console.

Which ones?

Paper Mario{Basterdized and Neglected}, Samus{Basterdized and Neglected}, Star Fox{Neglected}, Smash{Basterdized}, F-Zero{Neglected}, Wario World{Neglected}, Kirby{Handelized},Collesium{Neglected}, Snap{Neglected}

And I realized the last 3 are technically 3rd party, but they are exclusive.

More like there is no room for Xbox1. As XB and PS are too similar with Nintendo having its own identity.

That would be like a dream come true. Sony may be the better choice cuz Pokemon and handhelds, but Microsoft would still be awesome.

sony would be to powerfull after that

no more reason for a second console.

no need a monopoly

dont think i will ever happen.
