Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Problem -- There Simply Isn't Room For 3 Consoles

If one console needs to be removed, it certainly shouldn't be Nintendo's because the offer the most solid exclusives than anyone else.

All Wii U games have underperformed and it's no coincidence. Perhaps you should ask yourself why that is. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you deny so vehemently that the Wii U is nothing like the Wii, even though you commonly say that the PS3 and 360 work as substitute for the Wii U (happened in this thread too). If the Wii U were like the Wii, such a comparison would not be applicable. The Wii couldn't be substituted with a PS3 or 360. Or a PS2, Xbox or GC, if you want to bring processing power into this.

Wii was its own thing. Wii U is not. Once you acknowledge that, the entire premise you argue changes (across all of your threads). Wii U doesn't fail because it followed in the footsteps of the Wii, it's failing because it didn't.

Now give an answer to my post.

I did. If you want to live in a planet where you think you're smarter than every major publisher on the planet, including Nintendo, you're just living in some coginitive dissonance fantasy then I'll leave you to it.

The sales data backs up what I'm saying too, look at the declines in successful motion gaming IP ... Just Dance, Deca Sports, Kinect Sports, Your Shape, Zumba Fitness, EA Active, Carnival Sports ... but of course all these declines must be because of coincidence or that developers didn't make the exact right game, and even when you were pressed to elaborate on what types of magical motion games would've revived that sagging market, you came up with answers that weren't really all that dissimilar to what other devs already tried.

From memory you for example suggested a fantasy based adventure type motion game for one that would be easy to access. Except Sony basically did make that game for the PS3 and it was a flop. Nintendo also tried deeper motion gaming experiences, so did Microsoft, so did other third parties, by and large none of these were massively successful.

Motion gaming was a trend. It's over now. Companies stopped making motion games because people stopped buying them. Time to move on into the year 2014.

I hadn't heard that actually. Seems pretty cool. The only problem to me is that Mario has to be in that hypotheticla game in order to use the Mario Amiibo for it right?

I would think so. If I were Nintendo I'd be working my ass off to develop a new Diablo-esque game featuring their biggest stars, where you use amiibo data gatherered from usage in other games to level characters.

Think Mario 64 type of 3D world, Diablo type grind, simplified Smash type controls for combat, and a giant roster of Smash related characters (because they would already have combat move sets). You could travel a Nintendo world and grind dungeons based on famous Nintendo Villains. Bowser, Ganon, Wart, Mother Brain, Andross, etc waiting at the end of dungeons for you and your buddies to to challenge them.

I'm actually in the middle of writing a post about how amiibos -could- be used.

Really?

I figured the problem was that the whole idea of Nintendo is outdated. They still make quality games but it's true.

Not really. There is nothing outdated about fun.

I'm sorry but this is just insane, I really am trying not to say it so I won't, _______ talk. The 3D zeldas are all fundamentally the same with a few tweaks here and there. There is a difference between OoT and MM in the sense that MM has more NPC interaction, but the gameplay is still essentially the same.

I haven't played all these games or finished all of them as some of them are freaking hard, but here it goes

Zelda 1 -> introduced the adventure concepts of exploring dungeons and such

Zelda 2 -> redid the system to a super challenging side scrolling style of dungeon crawling

Zelda Ocarina of Time -> introduced a patent office worth of original concepts for 3D gaming

Zelda Majora's Mask -> First game to give characters a daily routine to follow every day

Zelda Wind Waker -> Open world ocean exploration

Zelda 4 swords -> controls 4 Link's at once.

Zelda Twilight Princess -> Transformation to a wolf character, first to use motion controls

Zelda Skyward Sword -> Flying exploration, 1:1 motion control of sword

This just covers the obvious stuff I can remember off the top of my head.  Lets not forget the smaller things introduced in each game like the twin grappling hooks in twilight princess and various other unique features.

ehh they can offer thsoe games elsewhere, no one is saying get rid of them and their games.

But for a while not their console hardware is their greatest weakness.

Out of the 3 consoles Wii U is the most unique. PS4 and XBO are basically the same except for about 10 exclusives, and PS4 having the better multiplat games. Nintendo has the best exclusives up to this point.

The only reason to get a One is if you're a hardcore Halo fan or like playing inferior versions of blockbuster 3rd party games.

If anything in the gaming industry is tired and outdated it's the FPS genre.

Yeah but Dark said they were here first and that is incorrect lol. Still though they stayed Atari....left lol.

And I may be mistaken but before the PS1 weren't Sony and NIN together? I can't remember but I am pretty sure that they were.

Nintendo wanted to make a disk-drive expansion, went so Sony. They made a contract but it turned out the contract sucked and Nintendo realized they had to back out because Sony was asking too much. Sony went ahead with turning "the Nintendo Play Station" into "the Sony Playstation".

Arguably Nintendo taught Sony the lesson about not screwing over those you see as 'sub-ordinate game devs' that Nintendo itself would have to learn much later, which was part of what has actually caused problems for Nintendo in the long term.

When I read your version however I imagine Nintendo kicking the SNES out of the house because it was sixteen, going to tell its Wife Sony something important, and then being told Sony had gotten pregnant by Mr. Station. - Followed by Nintendo tormentedly asking how Sony could do such a thing, and then revealing it was m.preg.

Okay cool thanks for the clarification. And your description was HILARIOUS lol.
