Sigh. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE WESTERN GAMES? For gods sake, that's why the team was started up, and now all they are doing are 2d games, mario kart and now this crap. They have two western teams, the other one makes freaking mario vs. dk, start using these teams for what they are meant for. Give DK racing to some 3rd party or whatever.

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Rumor is BS just because no one has any reliable sources inside of Retro. Been that way for 15 years so any one pretending now to have the inside scoop is a bullsh*tter plain and simple.

That said the Monster Games doing Diddy Kong Racing is a rumour that's been out there for a while. It's probably for the 3DS.

I hate to say it, but I find the Metroid games kinda (well) boring. I would mind Retro doing something else. I hope if there is a new DKR (which I think would be smart), it moves away from Mario Kart as a kart based racer and becomes more like an arcadey Wave Race type thing.

I think I could see Retro provide the assets and such for DKR2, but I still think this rumor is probably not true at all...

Thread title should be "Monster Games and Retro working on DKR2", because the way it's now, too many people assume that Retro is doing most, if not all, of the workload. If the rumor is true, Monster Games will do most of it, with Retro mainly providing assets that they have created for their DKC games.

Precisely.  I wish more people would realize this.

Also, to all of the people asking why we need two kart racers or how different could a DKR game be, I assume that many of you never played the original DKR on N64.  Despite being a kart racer, with its adventure mode, boss races, coin challenges and different vehicles, it actually felt quite different from Mario Kart 64 (and, IMO, DKR was a much better game).  If Monster and Retro followed suit on the sequel it could do very well for itself (and WiiU) if it arrived holiday 2015.

Plus, my inner-fanboy still wants to see something like this become a reality:

Not going to happen for next year, it's too close to the release of Mario Kart 8. Maybe in 2016. Retro will either be on a new IP (or maybe Raven Blade) or the next 3D Metroid.

The GamePad is going to be perfect for scanning things.

Nintendo is bleeding money at the moment. Why would they invest money in DKR2?

Diddy Kong Racing probably would sell more than a Metroid game. Far wider appeal.

Just sayin'.

Ohhhh boooy! I hope this is true! I'm wanting a new game since 2001. x.x

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Ineteresting rumor... the keyword is RUMOR.
