I said it. Nintendo is bleeding money. All the savings of wii are being spent for wii u.

They offered them over 25 Billion at some point IIRC, and they refused.

$4.7 billion is the money they have in the bank, it doesn't include the company's assets (buildings, patents, shares, bonds, inventory and many many more things). If a company wants to buy Nintendo, they would have to pay for all of those stuff (unless they make some sort of deal)...which will be A LOT more than $4.7 billion.

Okay. Maybe they should put some of that money into...I dunno, expanding their dev studios, funding third party exclusives, and drastically increasing their videogame output? M$ put $1billion into the X1 launch. Looks like Nintendo is entirely capable of doing the same.

If they could retain talent then investing in a UK studio wouldn't be a bad idea.  Though at the same time if Crytek USA (Austin) goes under then I'm sure Retro Studios would get some of the talent anyways.  

From Japan, Capcom would be a good match.

Nintendo spent 6 billion in two years?

A good chunk of that money was probably spent on the new R&D building (which just opened last month I think), add the losses they had in the past couple of years and you can imagine where this decrease is coming from.

So what? According to Yahoo finance,

And... according to Nintendo's Annual report, they have current assets of less than $12.7 billion http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2013/annual1303e.pdf (page 24) And total assets of $15.4 billion. In other words, Microsoft could buy Nintendo 6 times with just current assets.

What's your point?

Some of the money was transferred to 'short-term investments' which have a higher rate of return than money in the bank.
