Forums - Nintendo - Zelda U - Hold up, you must start with the horse right?

Reminds me of Majora's Mask. Each time you got to a new area a large chunk of the world was open up to you, but you had to explore it to move on.

Then near the end of the game you could go to Great Bay or Ikana Kingdom in any order.

It will still be more open than that of course.

You need the Ice arrows on the Great Bay Temple to reach Ikana Valley.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Huh. Shoot. I heard they could be done in any order but I guess that was wrong.

You know what else has a horse? Metal Gear Solid V.

Take your non-sequitur, and shove it through the hole of your "Shadow of the Collossus" disc.

OT: It's nice that Aonuma is considering a more flexible approach to game progress, but don't forget that his ambitions in this regard rarely deliver the product that hype has created. It's not a new thing to be halted by the requirement of a treasure or upgrade, but the perhaps it's high time to expand on the actual "courage" bit of that Triforce, e.g.

There's a narrow passage that could lead to an important place "out of sequence", but getting there early in the game depends on how confident you are at defeating a enemy who blocks the route. If you're not powered up or skillful enough, then tough shit, you'll have to try later. Make it clear through dialogue that you are not ready to take them on, thus balancing the progression for newcomers and crusties alike. Maybe, if you're the sort of player who likes to slash through grass and explore, you might have enough rupees to attract the nose of the beast, and they will let you pass without a fight, because, you know, monsters have families too. Some megalomaniac might even make a connection between such actions and things that happen later in the game, but I fear for some sort of bug where there's a monster in your house holding a load of horse grass and a marriage proposal, and WHOOPS suddenly your save state is corrupted.

I wonder if Aonuma is just so torn between trying to satisfy fans of all the different storyboards from times of yore, that he is going nuts trying to blend them into something. People hated Wind Waker until Twilight Pricess released. People hated Twilight Princess until Skyward Sword released. People hate Skyward Sword right now. It had some great combat, classicly compact and efficient overworld (underworld?) design, dungeons were as great as ever, and the new items were surprisingly enjoyable. However, the sky brought back everything that was bad about the Great Ocean, whereas the Spirit Realm recreated everything bad about the Tears of Light, and the secrets and sidequests were so mundane as to be tiresome on subsequent playthroughs. Going from one end of the world to another is NOT great design, and little treats get missed if players are already fed up by they time they have a chance to be offered them.

Why would I hate something so adorably clumsy? I just want to put you in my handbag and show you off to all the girls.

He seems to be trying to find a sweet spot for the Zelda games, which makes no sense since you either like most/all of the Zelda games or you like one or two and nothing will get you to like the rest as much. The fanbase is unpleasable.

Not as bad as the Sonic fanbase though, which is literally 3 or 4 completely separate fanbases.
