i disagree with everyone that thinks that ps3's sales will increase due to blu-ray news. blu-ray players yes, but not the ps3.

The subjective value of the PS3 increases, as BluRay has won. I think some people, who was unsure about buying a PS3, may now purchase one.

Maybe demand finally ends. Maybe people don't buy the Wii online. Maybe it's some strange fluctuation. If demand is the problem, then this trend will continue the next weeks. If the supply dries up for the release of Smash in the US, then we will see some big numbers in the release-week. To know for sure, we will have to wait a little bit longer. But it is fun to make speculation about the reasons in the time until then.

I don't think demand is the problem. I'll believe demand is drying up when I don't see the Wii sold out in more places than it was sold out at last year. Heck, as far as I can see it's even sold out in countries which were said to be Sony land, such as Portugal and Spain.

I'm thinking that there might indeed be some major stockpiling going on, for SSBB launch or Wii Fit or whatever.

Yeah, whatever is the reason for the weak Wii-sales, we will know in some weeks. If it is stockpiling for smash, then we will have extraordinary sales for the release. If it is decreasing demand, this trend will continue.

ppl will look at ps3 and be like "o shit blu ray, yea ill pick it up". but theres also a standalone bluray player here in canada for 399 so i dunno how things will turn out
