If we look at the yearly sales charts on vgchartz for 3ds going from 2011 to 2014, we have:

2011: 13,250,062 units sold

2012: 14,112,182 units sold

2013: 14,420,949 units sold

2014: 2,636,122 units sold

Add that all up and you get: 44,419,315 units sold.

Yet, vgchartz has the total at 43.2m??

Did you bother to even read the OP? Where are these other 1.2m sales? How can vgchartz miscalculate such an easy addition.

Easy: pretty much every official data we have suggests that the 3DS is overtracked on a WW basis. I think they are trying to get a beter grasp of the real numbers on the main page, while figuring out where does the overtracking come from, and by how much...

Then the answer is VGChartz are only guessing on their numbers. Not only on their sales numbers, which are based on only 5% of US retailers, they even guess on simple additions. Ah well, we all knew didn't we?

That is a strange inconsistency, but as was said, they are probably putting the main page where they think it should be while trying to figure out where they are off...

all i kno is 3ds is overtracked by a million!!!
