Meanwhile gamers have loved 30FPS Halo for years. Gamers loved 20FPS Ocarina of Time. Gamers loved Final Fantasy VII at well below 60FPS, likely it was ~30FPS or less.

To be fair, OOT, Halo and FF7 were pioneers for the new 3D era. You could forgive the blocky graphics and choppy framerate because the novelity of playing in 3D for the first time (or being among the first big console FPSes in the case of Halo)  was worth so much more. So resolution and FPS are definitely not the end all be all of all games.

I just think that while 60FPS is nice, it isn't something you absolutely NEED in order for a game to be enjoyable. My laptop runs Skyrim with like 50 mods, but I can only get like 30FPS out of it when making it look that damn nice. Doesn't hurt my experience at all.

Maybe I am just out of the loop since I am mainly a lifetime RPG player.

Yeah, it matters what type of gamer you are and what you prioritise. Which is what I like about having a wide range of options available to you.

I don't really care, my standard for playing games is just playing the games.

The problem with today is people have such high standards that they deem anything lower than 60fps as garbage, same goes for people that care about 1080 resolution.

1080p and 60 FPS have been standards on your average PC for years now. It's rather disappointing in 2014 when next generation consoles still can't hit that. Playing under 60 FPS is not ideal but it's not the end of the world, however it is annoying when many last gen and so far it's looking many current gen games can't even hit 30 FPS.

The next-gen consoles are severely gimped. They could hit 1080p/60fps easily if devs had access to more power.

As it stands, only 6 cores and 5GB of RAM are available for PS4 devs, which is significantly worse than most mid-high end AMD cards, which are in turn seen as much worse than intel cards.

It's a little sad, really. Devs don't have access to nearly as much power as people think they do, so you can't blame them if they can't hit 1080p/60fps constantly.

They could easily hit 1080p/60fps if they made all games at the scale of PS360 games. All this fascination with Open World, less linear gameplay, etc is pointless when it can simply be removed to reach that 1080p/60fps standard.

To be honest, I'll take worse graphics over worse gameplay every time.

It really depends on the genre as to whether 30/60 matters or not but 'locked' is high on my list of priorities. Locked 30fps for adventure games, RPGs etc is fine but anything that places demands on reflexes, 60fps please.

lol, Unless you have a lot of adrenaline running through you and you are very actively alert, you will not notice more than 60 FPS and that is even if you notice that. yeah, 30 to 60 is noticable but overall, doesn't make that much of a difference.

What a waste of my life that was...someone needs to revoke his youtube license. That's how Youtube works right?

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Yeah people who have STANDARDS are crazy!

I am OK with both 30fps and 60fps, but 60fps is obviously much better for fighting games, platformers and action games like Bayonetta!
