True the launch lineup did suck. But even still now it is still doing bad. MK8 had a nice boost for the 1st week and dropped drastically afterwards. The Wii U is going on 2 years and is on a decline. Not attacking the system but with it currently having all the advantages I names and still losing it just doesn't seem to be anything that will turn it around. Not saying it is impossible just improbable.

I just can't see what it can do to turn things around. Time will tell though!

I thought it had a YoY increase so far this year (Is that what's called YtD?).

Did it have an increase? Maybe I read it wrong or was just looking at the current sales that just seemd to be going lower nit higher....bar the past two weeks with the MK8 release.

Seems like it actually is going up slightly. As much as 20,3 % increase infact.

Keep this going and we will have on thread per day about this.

A console war thread a day makes the fanboys stay!

The fact that this is even a legitimate question shows the immense magnitude of Microsoft's failure.

Nintendo, to a point, is a machine MADE to not loss-lead and sell 100M consoles per gen. The Wii kind of threw them off, though attachment rate was probably 1/3rd of what you'd expect in that bizarre situation.

Microsoft OTOH planned for the 2nd coming of Jesus numbers with their console, and fell right into a steaming pile of dogshit. It's doubtful they will ever turn a profit on XB1 unless they crack at least 360 numbers. If you don't know what I mean, it's the vast R&D and corporate salary/bonus expenditures that sink their budgets, not to mention vast sums invested in Kinect2, buying Titanfall, 100-200M marketing campaigns all over the place, etc. The numbers will be horrifying when they finally get leaked down the line. They're masters of obfuscation, but the truth eventually emerges.

The Wii has the highest attach rate of any nintendo home console so far.

Well geez if this an increase like that then the first year must have been VERY bad. WOW that is crazy!!!  But an increase none the less so maybe the Wii U is not "doomed" like a lot of people are saying lol!

It had an admirable attach rate, but still far short of PS360, because of all the consoles sold to people who closeted them and never bought a single game (hype buyers for Wii Fit, etc).

Yes, but your statement compared it to other Nintendo consoles, and it does (at the top of my head at least!) have the highest attach rate for Nintendo systems.

  1. Wii Sports (45.7 million) (April 2009)
  2. Wii Play (22.98 million) (April 2009)
  3. Wii Fit (18.2 million) (April 2009)
  4. Mario Kart Wii (15.4 million) (April 2009)
  5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (8.4 million) (April 2009)
  6. Halo 3 (8.1 million) (January 2008)
  7. Super Mario Galaxy (8.02 million) (April 2009)
  8. Mario Party 8 (6.7 million) (April 2009)
  9. Gears of War 2 (5 million, may include PC version) (May 2009)
  10. Gears of War (4.7 million, may include PC version) (January 2009)

Top 10 selling games on a single platform of 7th gen and 7/10 of the best selling games were Wii games. Even if you take out Wii sports, that's pretty freaking good.

Yup, the first year was pretty terrible! And let's hope it can continue with outselling last year!

For the record the Vita also had an increase YoY. The Vita is 101% deffinetly doomed though.
