Well geez if this an increase like that then the first year must have been VERY bad. WOW that is crazy!!!  But an increase none the less so maybe the Wii U is not "doomed" like a lot of people are saying lol!

Yup, the first year was pretty terrible! And let's hope it can continue with outselling last year!

For the record the Vita also had an increase YoY. The Vita is 101% deffinetly doomed though.

The Vita surpassed doom a long time ago...it is headed into oblivion lol.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

It had an admirable attach rate, but still far short of PS360, because of all the consoles sold to people who closeted them and never bought a single game (hype buyers for Wii Fit, etc).

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2010/05/15/ps3_game_attach_rate_closes_in_on_xbox_360_s

  1. Wii Sports (45.7 million) (April 2009)
  2. Wii Play (22.98 million) (April 2009)
  3. Wii Fit (18.2 million) (April 2009)
  4. Mario Kart Wii (15.4 million) (April 2009)
  5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (8.4 million) (April 2009)
  6. Halo 3 (8.1 million) (January 2008)
  7. Super Mario Galaxy (8.02 million) (April 2009)
  8. Mario Party 8 (6.7 million) (April 2009)
  9. Gears of War 2 (5 million, may include PC version) (May 2009)
  10. Gears of War (4.7 million, may include PC version) (January 2009)

Top 10 selling games on a single platform of 7th gen and 7/10 of the best selling games were Wii games. Even if you take out Wii sports, that's pretty freaking good.

Think about what that data actually tells you in terms of multiplats selling on the Wii. Their 1st party did quite well, but a lot of that had to do with there being far less quality support on the thing. That list is also hopelessly out of date, and we know how the Wii fared in later years.

We should create a scale for the level of doomedness. Something along the lines of:

Failure

Doomed

Dead

Oblivion

Vita

Really? Did you see the Wii U launch lineup? Abysmal.

True the launch lineup did suck. But even still now it is still doing bad. MK8 had a nice boost for the 1st week and dropped drastically afterwards. The Wii U is going on 2 years and is on a decline. Not attacking the system but with it currently having all the advantages I names and still losing it just doesn't seem to be anything that will turn it around. Not saying it is impossible just improbable.

I just can't see what it can do to turn things around. Time will tell though!

I don't know, I don't call going from 30k to 180k to 84k a decline. Almost triple the sales 2nd week after a game release, along with some more heavy hitters coming out this year, I don't see anything but positive numbers compared to where they have been. What part of a decline are you seeing in these numbers?

There are a lot of delusional people who voted in the poll thinking Nintendo will take second place.

Sometimes it's just really sad these forums. If you make a poll about the consoles, it always turns into a popularity contest. People just can't seem to let go of their fanboyism and vote objectively for once.

Yeah, some people cant let go of their fanboyism. They  complain that someone didn't vote for their system, and call those people delusional.

Going to say it I am not convinced that the XBO will "easily" take second place, I still think the Wii U has a very high chance of keeping competent sales through out this generation. Sorry if I am not convinced that the XBO will do that well.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Yes, but your statement compared it to other Nintendo consoles, and it does (at the top of my head at least!) have the highest attach rate for Nintendo systems.

That's the Gamecube

Wii U depends on exclusives that don't come out as often as XO multiplatform titles do

that list is a bit (extremely) dated don't you think? And, I don't intend to bash the Wii's success, but Wii sports was not the only game that was heavily bundled with the Wii.

The Nintendo fans are starting to scare me again hehehe

Anyways, Xbox One has got this easily.
