should news channels start paying money to whoever they are reporting the news about?
if ESPN reported statistics about chicago bulls before a match, should they pay the chicago bulls?

just because a game has a strong story does not mean watching it is enough to experience the game. TLoU is a very, very weak example too, it has a deap, intense and fluid gameplay. might as well saying watching mario is just as the same as playing it. as for Beyond and Walking dead. dont you make your own choices in those games? then watching them takes away A LOT of the experience. |
I know a lot of people who just watch playthroughs of these games so they don't have to buy them.
TWD and TloU are 1 of the best examples imo.
Look at the playthrough of pewdiepie of tlou. 1st vid has 10million views, and all the vids an average between 4 and 5million. And that's just 1 channel.
Like I said, only story driven games suffer from this. A story can be oh so good, but why do it all over again when you know how it's going to end? Some people don't care or just don't find the motivation to buy and play through a whole game when they've already seen someone elses entire run.

Pretty sure if a News program showed an entire movie the owning company would hit them hard. You're confusing the reporting of news with the airing of an entire product owned by somebody. Same goes for the statistics which can be compiled in house if need be. Also ESPN would pay the NBA for the rights to air games so they do pay the Chicago Bulls in some manner.
Whether or not you like the fact that companies are making claims like this for money, you can't forget that it is well within their legal rights to do so.

This guy did say something stupid before didnt he I just cant remember what..

Youtube has complete games? I don't remember I need a controller to play the video of a game in Youtube.

They won't buy the game anyway. Most of those people who watch LoU don't even have PS3.

the only people who actually bother to watch a 15 hour video game are ones who werent going to buy it anyways.

He is right. All those "Let's Play" accounts are pirating the games content to make money. That is theft.
