Scary how accurate some people were about this...

Youuu. YOUUU!!

This thread is a perfect example of why you have to look at post dates.

The free ride is over people, just like Nintendo slowly started adding DLC to their development focus, paying for the online service with minor benefits if the next step. Console gamers brought this on ourselves we didn't complain enough about Xbox Live or PS Plus and now there is no refuge for free online services.

There's still PC

About the rest, damn right you are!

To be fair, the service is $20 and provides free NES games
Better than paying 60 bucks a year

I actually like the PS+ discounts on top of regular discounts the most.
But would I trade that for just $20 a year to simply play online? Possibly.

They should followed the ps3 trend. Free online, or $60 for features, discounts, and games.

That said I'm absolutely positive I've gotten $60 worth of value out of the "extra" discounts and games given away each year. I will have to wait and see if I can say the same for $20. I have zero interest in playing old Nintendo games.  I'm paying for online for NEW games, not 30+ year old games.

That said if they do enough discounts across the store they can make $20 a year worth it.

They won't be able to make it worth MORE though. $60 and a ton of value > $20 with moderate value.

I'd honestly be fine with the $60 online if they made a basic version for much lower.

Who pays 60 bucks per year for XBL Gold or PS+ ? There are always big discounts for these subscriptions.

Personally I'd rather pay $20 with moderate value, than 60 for a "ton" of value.
