Right, well to answer your questions first.
1.) They are tied to your console yes, but they are also tied to your NNID. So should you buy a newer Wii U, you can transfer the console if you call Nintendo (although Nintendo still has to add the account transfer system for Wii U, planned feature) They aren't changing this up any time soon, I guarantee that. But most every game you can buy at retail so just buy there.
2.) The online is solid and works much better than it did in the Wii days. People love to compare it to the Wii but it's not the Wii. They have a lot of modern features that Sony took 4 years to implement, thankfully when these features are implemented they are solid and easy to use. Some of these features the Wii U has you need PS+ to actually have (automatic patch download/installs). The fact they are the first of the 3 to make an actual social network says a lot more in favour of their competence with the online world. All this wasn't rush, but all this still will take time to evolve. All this is free too, but in an interview I read they are looking in to the idea of subscription models for things. Most people who say that the online isn't up to par needs to get a life as they either don't own a Wii U or think that trophies and cross game chat is the best thing in the world that the Wii U needs that trash too.
As for your remark about people who bought launch consoles, I take offense to that as a launch console owner. There was plenty to keep me occupied. Monster Hunter was my life for several months. I played and enjoyed NSMBU as the controls were much better and had no input delay (the HD difference). I enjoyed it and it did look like a nice HD rendition of Mario. Nintendo had problems because of their quality bar which is set extremely high. I really don't want shitty Nintendo games, no one does. Besides you had other choices of games, I wouldn't have recommended that over Pikmin 3 and Legend of Zelda Windwaker HD
