The online is fine, the problem is that not many games utilize it...
Also, I think that NSMBU actually looks pretty pleasant, and it is a huge step up from NSMBwii...especially when it has levels like this (although I think the normal levels look nice too):
Granted it isn't mind blowing or anything, but it is pleasant and simple and clean and it works...
