It could be Link and he's trolling. However, I think just maybe it could be Zelda. She already had a tomboyish version before, and she usually uses a bow who shoots arrows of light.

Looks like a gal. It's a female link. Maybe there'll be 2 heroes. Maybe both of them have to work together to solve puzzles and stuff. Who knows?

I find it funny that, looking at link, I can't tell if its a he or a she.

Given the Zelda lore and female Link would fit as their are multiple Links throughout time.

• player character is not Link

I hate to even suggest it, but... Valley of the Flood?

The more I look at it the more i am convinced it is not Link.

It's FemLink, who will prove to be the superior Link, much like FemShep.

But Link does not always use the Master Sword.  
And no one said the character is NOT Link, just that no one explicitly said it was either.
