Forums - Sony - Borderlands 2 on Vita - Frame rate is a disaster!

Because if GT6 was to be ported to the Vita - it would get more flank and be the worst of the two versions. There will be some sort of downgrade in some way or even worse FPS. The PSP version of Gran Turismo didnt have a Career mode nor did it have the ability to upgrade the cars - and that was its main flaw. I cant imagine what it will be (if its the same) for a rushed port of GT6.

Sony should invest on newer titles of familiar IPs or newer IPs rather than focusing on ports of last gen systems.

This is a weak argument. Good Vita ports have well received critically, even if visually inferior to home consoles.

Some downgrades would be acceptable. The problem with Borderlands 2 isn't the downgrades, its the performance.

The PSP version of GT mode lacking a career mode or upgrading features had nothing to with the PSP. It was just a half assed game, period.

Why does a GT6 port have to be rushed? That's a project actually word putting effort in. If EA can do a quality port of NFS:Most Wanted on Vita, we can assume Sony can do the same with GT6. Look at the Most Wanted videos i posted above.

While I agree that NFS Most Wanted is how to do it, it also took a 10-20% hit in ratings from the usual mainstream sites like IGN fir the compromises made. Completely unjustifiable imo in NFS's case though. That ver is a technical marvel that is yet to be surpassed even by secondsthe iPad despite being far more powerful. IPad her of most wanted however? Rated higher than the ps360 ver by some reviewers. Baffling.

I just bought the Vita version 3 days ago. I also played the PC version on max, with absolutely no framerate issues (as its a game that does not have high PC requirements).

My 2 cents on the issue: the Vita version is by far the worse to have, but the only one that is portable. The framerate dips aren't that common, and the game is playable. The control scheme needs to be remapped, I certainly did it, but after tweaking it for a few minutes I finally managed to get a good one. Also there is a stability/remap patch coming out so that should fix some complaints. Also it has all the DLC as far as I know so the $/value of the game is pretty good.

All in all the only thing that brings it down is the stability issue, but again, the ones shown in the video are the extreme cases, and usually the game is fluid enough. Its nowhere near the quality of the PC version, but then it can fit in your pocket. The 65 meta it has is a pretty accurate depiction of what you should expect. Portable, playable but not perfect.

Would you ever be able to imagine what you would score it on metacritic if it was a game which hadn't been on other systems? Just as a standalone game which came out only for the vita with the amount of content it has (I got it new for 15euros in gamestop here in Ireland btw, they've already reduced it in their summer sale if any of my potatoe wielding brethren want to get a copy of it) This is the way I'm playing the game for the first time and yeah to me it is a pretty amazing game to have such a low score on metacritic, I feel that if you'd never played the game before you might be put off buying it on the Vita because of the low metascore, tis a shame really.

Totally agree with you, and now, that there is a Vita version, I might actually finish the game, when Im on my trip to Germany in like 2 weeks time

But never the less, its a port, and a mediocre one. It somehow reminds me of Doom on the GBA: not perfect, but FFS, its in the palm of your hands. No other system can make this game both playable and fit in your pocket to

I actually finished that version of Doom on my 32inch tv through my Gamecubes GBA player because the other version I had for Doom was the saturn one and that is actually less smooth in places lol (looking back now tho the saturn one had fantastic music in comparison)

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Did the patch do any good?

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Borderlands ran like crap on PS3 aswell. That game is only really suited for PC

Frame rate issues are what keep me from buying more Vita games. I have Jak and Daxter on PS3, but I prefer to play platformers on the go. I wasn't going to put up with the bugs and other issues though lol

A shame about BL2. I never played any, but I'd like to play it on Vita. Hopefully other patches do the trick. Guys on the PS blog say it is the SAME as before. Almost as if it corrected other issues aside from the frame rate.

The only thing more funnier than the frame-rate of this game is its sales.
They should have towned down the graphics in the open areas.... 10fps lol.

The Vita is worse than the PS3 when it comes to graphics, that's obvious, but it's not because of the graphics that the framerate is poor.

Should Techland or whoever ported the PS3 version of Dead Island reduced the graphics quality since that game ran between 10-20fps with a massive amount of screen tearing?  Should Bioware have reduced the Dragon Age Origins graphics(a game that's not even close to being a graphical showcase) on the PS3 because the game was constantly under 20fps.

Borderlands 2 isn't even a great looking game.  There's been games on the Vita already that have looked and ran better with wide open environments, so I'm sure if it was given to a good developer or maybe more of a budget put into it, the game would have had a good port.

I bought the game yesterday and I must say the frame rate is quite bearable but the main problem is it´s technical issues like crashing, that happened to me twice already. Other than that I´m actually enjoying the game.
