Why shouldn't that be pointed out by people?

In this case it's still not clear, "sold through" normally means sold to customers, but this could also be a mistake from the PR guy.

Nintendo release some numbers: no, is shipped. Let's wait for VGC data.

It honestly will if the beta is good.

Bungie cant mess up the Beta. The real world hype is monstorous they cant afford to lose that

There's a difference between sold and sold through

When a company says "sold", then you should take that as shipped to retailers (cause that is sold for them) unless they specify otherwise.

And one way to specify otherwise is by saying "sold through" which basically means sold to customers.

Again, could be a mistake from Ubisofts' PR guys though.

The Nintendo statement did mention internal trackers under the asterisk'd statement though which to me usually indidcates that they are trying to estimate sell through and not just shipped since there shouldn't be any need to estimate the shipped numbers.
