Nope. 3D all the way. We don't get 1080p/60fps because developers, for the most part, aren't talented to make the appropriate compromises while still making a game that looks good. It still bothers me that there's no option to play WWHD at 720p 60fps instead of 1080p 30fps.

because they choose not to. Wii U is capable to run WW 1080p 60fps but they didnt probably due to short development time and the original was 30fps so yeah. i guess it makes sense.

Im curious about next week when they will probably unveil a new RE game and im pretty sure its going to be pre rendered

I enjoy them when used well, especially when mixed with full 3D scenes like in FF 7 or Zelda OoT. They are less needed now though, with more powerful processors.

Agreed. 1000%.

Because of load times, I suspect they didn't follow this approach in DK:TF -- which is a shame because the original Donkey Kong Country really pioneered the concept.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

but dont you think that with these "powerful processors" its going to be even better more possibilities more everything ?

I forgot about load times one more reason to go back to basics!

Processing power doesn't help a pre-render.  That was the whole point of using them back in the day.

I'm sorry, but 30fps will never make sense. It has nothing to do with short dev time. If they wanted it to be 60fps, it would have been.

I doubt it with the next RE game.

Get a PC then emulate the GC game, problem solved. Then you can have all the options you want.

Agreed. Cut scenes used to be a reward for getting somewhere in the story and treated you with scenes that would never be possible on current hardware. Instead graphic designers have to work within the confines of what can be rendered in real time on a console, vastly cutting down on the scale and look. Plus introducing load times interrupts the flow of the story.

They also do a good job of enhancing the feel of the game. The cut scenes in white knight chronicles elevated the world you're walking through by showing you the vision that the designers had in mind. Same for the character designs with the hand drawn cut scenes in Ni No Kuni.

Pros:
- Glimpse into the future of gaming
- Hiding load times behind pre-rendered scenes
- Shorter development time, cut scenes can be made independently.
- Glitch free scenes, all effects, draw distance, amount of characters to the max.

Cons:
- Your character might look different, yet you can always render the character model into a pre-made scene if that's really a problem.
- Disk space. Stupid idea this gen to install everything to the hdd. Cut scenes can easily be played from the Blu-ray drive while the game sets up the next part. Blame digital distribution for the demise of pre-rendered scenes.
