Forums - Gaming - Vita's 2nd Million Seller Incoming! Megaton!!

Will there be even more million sellers on Vita within the next 12 months?

Yes, there will be 1 30 31.58%

Yes, there will be a few 29 30.53%

Not within 12 months 11 11.58%

No, never, DOOM all the way 25 26.32%

Total:95

It is happening, after Uncharted Golden Abyss another million seller (vgchart retail info) is incoming for Sony's system that is doing fairly well in Japan but lacks behind in other territories. At least AC3: Liberation had a good run on the system with a high attachment rate.

The game sold until the 17th of May 955k copies globally. Only 45k left for this game to reach a new milestone. At the beginning of the month of April this game sold around 940k copies which would suggest that this game sold 15k within 6-7 weeks. If use these numbers it will still take the game around 3 months in order to reach a million in sales but depending on what Sony has planned for during E3 it might be sooner/later.

However since most of the games on Vita sell very well digitally we can assume that the game already surpassed the milestone. There are no official numbers besides that you can find a lot of information regarding digital sales coming from Japan and there they usually range around 10-20% and if not, higher for select titles.

Hopefully there is still some life left for PSVITA in the west and I think that this E3 is there last chance. I'm curious to see what other games beside AC:Liberation will break a million on Vita. Some definitely deserve the sales.

With numbers like that I can't help but wonder why Sony doesn't make Vita games anymore.

I wish they would bring the Vita TV to the west. That could boost software sales.

AC did 9.8k last month and 1.5k this past week.

Considering it's done 58k year to date, it should reach one million in Nov.

I think they really assessed the situation with Killzone and tearaway and if we estimate digital sales (cheap prices) both games would be around 500k. I don't know if that covered the investment. Maybe, but I hardly doubt that, since smaller teams were working and for Killzone they used existing assets from KZ3.

I think that a cheap minecraft bundle will do wonders.

As the people on the wiiU last chance threads say... How many last chances do we give it until its actually its last chance?

As a Vita owner, it depresses me that it's only had ONE million seller in the 2.5 years it's been on the market. The PSP already had several at this point; the 3DS had several multimillion sellers in the first year, after the price drop. Sure, Liberation may have already crossed that threshold when you account for digital sales, but a healthy platform wouldn't need to factor in such caveats in the first place.

I'm not all that excited about this. :/

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

AC liberation was on sale on psn all last month for 8euros here, considering the cheapest you would find it at retail is 20euros or more it's not that surprising that the number of physical sales on the Vita aren't so high but I would doubt that liberation didn't break the million sales mark with that sale recently.

The Vita is the first console I've seen that has a store where games are almost always cheaper than their physical counterparts, perhaps that is because there is a smaller user base so game stores give it less shelf space and far less room for their special offer section, I'm not sure. but Vita physical sales are not a good way to judge performance of a game on the platform imo.

I think this hits the nail on the head. The cheapest you're looking at in store for most Vita games, even pre-owned is generally around £20 here, while the digital store can often have prices a hell of a lot cheaper. If you look at GAME for instance, their pre-owned copies (obviously this wouldn't count towards sales either) of AC3:L are £15, which is still more expensive than the digital copy. Vita thrives on digital, which is why physical always looks to be such a small amount IMO.

I expect 4 1m sellers lifetime.

Yeah, AC: Liberation and CoD should cross 1M this year but other than that, I doubt any of the other games out now will make it, and I can't think of any upcoming games that have a shot
