Forums - Movies & TV - Edge of Tomorrow getting phenomenal reviews so far.

The movie Starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt opens in most international markets this weekend and in North America on June 6th. Early reviews have been abolsutely phenominal as it currently stands at 95% on Rottentomatoes with an 8.4 from critics as well. I also have a few friends and people I know who have been to prescreenings and say it's one of the best theater experiences they've ever had. Some of the people who saw it are Tom Cruise fans, while others... not so much, but all agreed it was an awesome movie. I'm definety a bigger movie buff than I am videogame hound, and this is my most anticipated movie of the summer. I know sometimes there's some movie discussions on here. Just curious what everyone's thoughts on the movie are, and if anyone has any predictions on opening weekend numbers, and or final gross. I think this movie might surprise a lot of people and perform better than expected as it will have great legs with all the positive word of mouth.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Interesting, I'll see it this weekend. Oblivion was alright but it steals from a lot of similar sci-fi stories. Generally most of the time Tom Cruise films are entertaining to watch and that's all you expect from him.

Hmm, pie.

Was gonna give this a miss after how crap Oblivion was, but I guess I'll have to see it now considering those reviews =^_^=

Oh yeah Oblivion was so horrible, this looks alright though.

The last one I really liked from him was MI4.

Jack Reacher was alright, a decent enough film even if he didn't suit the role, not seen that Rock of Ages one though.

I still don't get why everyone keeps saying it feels like Groundhog day, because they share the same concept? It's not the first/only movie with time loop elements nor does it have anything to do with Edge of Tomorrow/ All You Need Is Kill. And no one in their review talks about the novel/manga of All You Need Is Kill, sure they mention the name because the movie is based on it but they don't compare the original material to the movie, instead they compare it to Source Code, Groundhog Day etc. I'm glad it's getting great reviews though because I was excited when they first announced they will adapt the novel and I want to go watch it.

Only 18 reviews though, rating will most likely drop but I'm looking forward to this film alot.

It is generally described as between absolutly boring and nice try, from the critiques I read so far.
Bill Murray in Groundhog Day was better. This "Do it again and again and agin" scheme works better in a comedy, methinks. It doesn't help either that TC is still a completely inept actor with zero facial expression. What size are the stilts he is wearing in this movie?
