Sony:
Bigger variety in genres than MS

Nintendo:
Unique titles you can't play anywhere else
My kids love them

Because their games still focus on gameplay instead of getting bogged down in "cinematic" storytelling.

Nintendo
-Quality (Honestly, it is the only publisher i feel safe to buy games from without watching gameplay videos and reviews)
-Always Fun (Really fun!)

Sony
-Third Party RPGs
-First Party RPGs
-Story based entertainment

JRPGs= Sony. This is what I love.

Sony becuase even though they are endlessly going bankrupt and shouldn't exist they can still give out a console beating and rile up fanboys of the nintendo & microsoft nations,,love that innovation

Sony

- long term support
- controller
- games (first and third party)

SONY because no matter what I know it will have the most games I like each gen, ever since PS1 they have always been the full RPG powerhouse. No other manufacturer has been able to match the shear RPG numbers. Their hardware is usually the best or a close second. Their controller has also been the most consistent. All in all, I always know what i'm getting into when I buy the current gen playstation.

Honorable mentions to Nintendo, who used to be the powerhouse but they have continuously, generation after generation, lost more and more of the large third party RPG powerhouses and their 1st party games completely lost any appeal to me.

SONY for the following reasons:

1) They have have a wide variety of exclusives going from the most niche Japanese games (like the Hatsune Miku games, the Neptunia games, Atelier games etc.) to the most western "mainstream" type of games like Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo etc... (and as a gamer who loves both the most japanese titles to the most mainstream western titles this is a big plus for me).

2) their focus on new exclusive IPs, if there is something that ive noticed over the years is that unlike Microsoft and Nintendo, Sony doesn't grow their IPs as much as the competition has done with their games, which is the case of Halo, Zelda, Mario etc. (which could be seen as a negative... i understand that). but instead Sony focuses more on creating new IPs every generation and i will dare say that the best game on every SONY console for every generation has been a new IP. For example.

BEST GAMES PER CONSOLE

PS1: The Legend of Dragoon, Twisted Metal, Syphon Filter, Medievil, Gran Turismo. (all new IPs)

PS2: Disgaea, Shadow of the Colosus, ICO, God of War (2), Zone of the Enders (2) (all new IPs, in the case of ZOE and GOW they both were new IPs but their second game, that came for the PS2 as well was the best one).

PS3: The Last of Us, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Demons Souls (all new IPs)

PS4: to early to tell obviously but i bet history will once again repeat itself (i doubt Uncharted will be the best game again)

3) PS PLUS: i will admit that free online once replaced this third reason, but after trying plus all i can say is, MAN that was some 50 dollars WELL SPENT!, i literally have more games that i can play... i feel like im paying just for the amount of free games that secure me that i will always have something to play, and if you ad all the discounts and other freebies it is just great value for your money.

4) The incredible lifetime of their consoles, they support their consoles way after the next gen has arrived, the PS3 is getting a lot games this year and will get a lot the next one (including PERSONA 5, and Neptunia V2) and the same case was with the PS1 and PS2 and more than likely the PS4 will get the same treatment.
