That's a such a silly thing to do.. Was Pep even thinking when he decided that Xabi should play as a centre-back?!

Defensive midefielders are very capable and should at least learn how to play as centre back.

Yeah, like Mascherano did. Although I think Xabi Alonso is a lot more forward thinking than your typical defensive midfielder.

Yep. Real Madrid softned him up.

He's supposed to be like Fernando of M.City, a agressive ball winning type of player.

Exactly and if it wasn't for the money, that spell would have lasted much much longer.
Those teams did horribly in quite a few seasons over the past 10 years with PSG nearly getting relegated twice and Monaco actually playing in Ligue 2 for two seasons.

Yeah you're right it would have taken a lot longer. Although now I can't even remember exactly what we were arguing about

Oh well, I'm glad the money teams are there, it would be so much more boring without them. Take out the get rich quick teams and the only real top sides in Europe would be Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Possibly with Atletico Madrid, Dortmund and Liverpool getting in there as well. With them there are so many more, not just at the top but lower down as well.

The only good thing about money is, when it's invested in the youth system.

Considering most of the rich clubs became rich rather recently, they didn't contribute anything (from that new money) to the good players of today.
The players would've been there regardless, with the only difference being in them playing for clubs that deserve being in the Champions League.

It's not like Bayern, Barca, Real, ManU etc. could just buy up all of the great players on the planet, so there are bound to be 2nd tier clubs that have multiple great players.

Xabi Alonso played as a CB?!

I swear Pep can be retarded sometimes.

Xabi Alonso.........centre-back?  >_>

I didn't watch the match but my friend told me that. I need someone to confirm!

I haven't seen it but I don't see Guardiola playing with a 5 man defense. Maybe Xabi Alonso placed sometimes between the centre backs like Busquets does and that confused your friend.

Today my team were away to the 2nd place team in the league.

We had 60% possession. We had 26 shots to Watford's 15. We had 10 on target to Watford's 7. We had 9 corner kicks to Watford's 3.

We lost the game 4-2.

Sometimes I really hate football.

I'm going to laugh pretty badly if Argentina somehow wins that friendly match!

I'd be willing to bet that they do win. Oddly enough that often seems to be the case with world cup rematches in friendlies.

Well, I will be here laughing in that case!
