It's the exact opposite in football though. Olympics is utterly unimportant and the Euros are the next best thing to the World Cup.
No player would voluntarily leave out playing the Euros.

People are always going on about the 2-2 tie between Germany and Ghana, or the close wins of Germany over the USA and Algeria. But Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria, and Switzerland all gave Argentina a run for their money as well. I think Ghana is a pretty good African team, and remember, they came very close to going to the semi finals in 2010. Just because certain teams are underdogs doesn't mean you should automatically count them out. Costa Rica surprised many this World Cup.

It was all luck according to all of the Argentina haters :) Even though Argentina are the only team not to be behind in a game this tournament. Germany tied Ghana 2-2, And narrowed by usa and went to extra time with Algeria. So Germany wins this with ease today. lol just messing around. I hate how the media isn't bringing up these results at all. All that matters is beating a demoralised Brazil 7-1 and Portugal sucked to start with.
All of this from the media makes me want Argentina to win even more just to shut up the haters. I hope Argentina wins today for that alone and Messi gets his moment. I do have Germany winning 1-0 though. |
It's not all about the result. It's how you play.
Germany dominated every game(except that first half against Algeria). If you play that controlled, victory is a question of time and not just luck.
Argentina however hardly controlled any game they were in. Their attack was flimsy and their defense competent but more due to their tactic rather than their skill.
That's why the media and anyone who watched the world cup sees Germany as the favorite. It might not mean that they actually win but they've presented themselves accordingly in this tournament to have earned the title of favorite.

Germany - Messi 0-3
Because lets be honest, its the German Team vs the Meastro.
As you saw, The Netherlands also steamrolled over a slightly less defunct Brazil with a 0 - 3.
Guessing Germany is will get overconfident and complacent and some individual skill will eventually become the determining factor ^^

Netherlands only scored a single goal against Brazil way in the additional time. The other goals were scored by the ref.
I'd hardly call that "steamrolled".

Germans deserve to win the cup this time.
They deserved it in 2006, in 2010 and now even more. Germany FTW!

You just say that because you're biased.

Ehm... of course? Every opinion is biased

Oh apparantly the ref helped us by tripping Robben and giving Silva the red card he was supossed to have.
If Brazil was left with 10 man from then on, the score would've been much more skewed towards the Dutch.
The ref actually wanted to keep it a match and helped Brazil from getting overwhelmed emotionally again.
if that was the case, as i said the score would be much more skewed towards the Dutch, as frankly 3 of the 7 goals Germany made within 6 mins weren't because of the German team's so called superiority, it's just that the Brazilian squad couldn't keep their emotions in check, and everything came tumbling down and germany didn't let up.
So people who honestly judge Germany by this 1 match and see them as favourites love to jump on bandwagons and completely forget how they drew against Ghana and barely beat a France which was helf together long enough to self-implode after the World Cup.
As i see it, The German squad will be in for a surprise if they judge their own skill on basis of their game against Brazil, instead of their previous games.
Because Argentina won't implode like Brazil.
Germany 2-0 Argentina
