Euro 2012 we qualified as group winners. We then topped Group D which included France, Sweden and co-hosts Ukraine. We lost to Italy on penalties, the same team that went on to become runners up. This tournament we had a team that included Andy Carroll, Joleon Lescott, Scott Parker, Ashley Young. WC 2010 was poor all around. Our goalkeepers were Rob Green and David James. We had a team that included Ledley King, Mathew Upson, an ancient Emile Heskey and Aaron Lennon. Also, we were disallowed a goal against Germany that would have made the game 2-2 and pushed all momentum in our favour. This goal that never was, was the key moment that led to FIFA actually implementing goal line tech. Germany went on to finish 3rd. Euro 2008 we didnt qualify because Steve McClaren was a fucking idiot. Nothing to do with the players. WC 2006 was nothing special, lost to Portugal on penalties in the Quarters. Portugal finished 4th. Euro 2004 again was nothing special, also lost to Portugal on penalties in the Quarters. Portugal were runners up. WC 2002 we had a great team and played really well, we lost to one of the greatest Brazil teams ever due to a freak Ronaldinho goal. Brazil went on to win the competition. Could look a lot worse, but losing in quarter finals to teams that reach the semi finals is nothing to be majorly upset about, especially when you look at the games in more detail. |
Wow, you really got some hopes and dreams there...
Losing in quarter finals every single time means you're no better than that. When the premiership finally puts a ban on non-native players, then, only just then, England might grow to become one of the best tournament teams around. Untill then, keep enjoying the imported working class heroes on tournaments, playing for any team but the English.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see them top for once, but the amount of foreigners in your competition is holding English talent back, way back.
At least your clubteams are the most supported in the world.
Germany 5- Argentina 0.
Germany will tear apart Argentina like they did to Brazil and Portugal. Argentina are the luckiest team to make it to a World Cup Final. Luck can only get you so far.

Some Europeans argue that winning the Euro is harder than winning the world cup since most teams there are top class unlike in the world cup. Also, winning by one goal difference every game is not proof of luck at all. If you only watched them play you would understand why their games went that way. It's absolutely ridiculous that you think winning by 1 goal difference in football is considered luck. Greece winning Euro 2004 was not a fluke either in my opinion. You don't need the best players to win. You just need to play very well tactically and have an organized team. This is how teams like Algeria and Costa Rica managed to do well this world cup.
Germany have a better tactical team than Argentina and Germany have had the best form at this World Cup. Argentina have world class super star Messi, comparable to Diego Maradonna. The pressure is on Messi to prove whether he is as good as Maradonna and lead Messi's Argentina to World Cup victory. Messi's Argentina loses and Messi will be regarded as a great player at club level but a failure at national level without guiding Argentina to World Cup victory.

I don't think it can be called gloating. No other team in the world has played so consistently good and gained so little of it.
If we win today it will be a deserved relief. You can hardly gloat about reaching 8 finals and winning only 4. No other team lost as many finals as we did. We fucking deserve this trophy for once after giving it freely away to other teams for years.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It was all luck according to all of the Argentina haters :)
Even though Argentina are the only team not to be behind in a game this tournament.
Germany tied Ghana 2-2, And narrowed by usa and went to extra time with Algeria.
So Germany wins this with ease today. lol just messing around.
I hate how the media isn't bringing up these results at all.
All that matters is beating a demoralised Brazil 7-1 and Portugal sucked to start with.
All of this from the media makes me want Argentina to win even more just to shut up the haters.
I hope Argentina wins today for that alone and Messi gets his moment.
I do have Germany winning 1-0 though.

Brazil fans seeing Argentina lift the WC trophy in Rio de Janeiro would add more salt to their wounds. Out of spite Brazilian fans want Germany to win. There is no collective South American loyalty wanting Argentina to win WC. Out of spite Colombians, Ecuadorians, Chileans, Uruguayans and Brazilians more than likely want Germany to win the WC to deny Argentina glory!
