Yep, Euro 2008 and 2012 were also flukes. 


Winning a European Champisonship is not the same as winning the World Cup.  Even the Soviet Union one it once and was runner up three times but they never did much in the World Cup either.  Another good example is Greece they won one 2004 historically even the US has done better in the World Cup then Greece.


Some Europeans argue that winning the Euro is harder than winning the world cup since most teams there are top class unlike in the world cup. Also, winning by one goal difference every game is not proof of luck at all. If you only watched them play you would understand why their games went that way. It's absolutely ridiculous that you think winning by 1 goal difference in football is considered luck. Greece winning Euro 2004 was not a fluke either in my opinion. You don't need the best players to win. You just need to play very well tactically and have an organized team. This is how teams like Algeria and Costa Rica managed to do well this world cup.
