Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario 64 VS Super Mario Sunshine

I just recently played super mario sunshine and i didn't like it.

It's not a bad game and i'm sure it can be fun but i didn't understand the

Water Sprayer Which doesn't add any value to the game and is very annoying.

Also some missions can be very frustrating.

Super Mario 64 is a much better game.

No water sprayer a lot more fun missions you can also skip if you want certain missions and stars .

The game feels much better.

What's you opinion?

Which Mario do you prefer?

Tell me what you think.

I prefer Super Mario 64 as well...
Super Mario Sunshine just feels unfinished...
Play the pachinko level if you don't know what I mean...
Horrendously done...

Have a nice day...

Mario 64 is a classic.
Mario Sunshine is mediocre.

Tough question for me personally. I have strong nostalgic feelings for both of these games, so I guess that aspect kinda falls flat.

Really loved the water mechanics in Mario Sunshine. Its addition really made the game feel unique (compared to Mario 64) and it's also put to good use. Another aspect I loved about Sunshine is the tropical setting. Really gets me into the mood of vacation, though the world can be limited due to its relatively small size and similar look.

Now a quick look over to SM64. Ah yes... that first time playing with my brother, screaming: Oh my gawd, you can move around freely in all directions! And that's the reason I choose SM64 over Sunshine. Both games are some of the best in their respective genre, but SM64 had that 'WOW' effect going for it.

All in all i prefer SM64 over Sunshine. I mean, can you say no to this soundtrack? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqcPSbkS9TQ

There's no way that Sunshine is mediocre. It's a great game that just doesn't top Mario 64.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I loved Sunshine. I don't share any of the common complaints about it. However, level design in Mario 64 is still better.

They're both first-tier games.

I've only played a little of Sunshine. Sunshine looks like a better game, but I can't choose right now.

Mario 64 has some obvious aging issues (some weird physics here and there, an awful camera by today standards, repetitive level settings), but I still like it quite a bit! I wish more 3D games in the series gave you the freedom to tackle the stars in whichever order you want, I know 64 doesn't do this fully, but it's still the most freedom any Mario game has given you to tackle the objectives in whichever order you want.
Sunshine was a game I always wanted to play as a kid, and I should have left it at that. I hated just about everything about the game and dropped it after 2-3 hours of playtime to never return to it ever again.

I would pick Mario 64 without a doubt...

Mario 64 felt like a "fresh" pair of panties that have been worn by the sexiest girls in school! It had the smell of sweat and hard work to make it all the more lustrous when you're eating it! Contrast that with Sunshine which felt like Sand has gotten into the panties and now all it tastes like is sand and it smells like seaweed and even though there might have been some hardwork put on it, it got ruined by the premise alone which is no one wants to eat a Panties full of sand

Super Mario 64 perfect platformer

Sunshine gameplay is broken, boring and buggy as some mentioned above it feels unfinished..the first and I hope last game like this to come from nintendo.
