It's truly now or never I suppose. If it's going to "pull a 3DS" Mario Kart will be the one to do it. A massive torrent of advertising for an amazing game might just do it. I'm hopeful that MK8, along with E3 hype, and an already pretty great library will push it into a super successful summer.

Spending capital teaming with other studios and funding projects so I can get the georgeous Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors or SMT x Fire Emblem.  Games sale hardware.

Not unless Watch Dogs, Destiny, The Order and whatever else they have coming ALL fail to impress or do anything revolutionary. The PS4 IMO is currently reaping the benefits of Sony's awesomeness towards the end of last gen. That won't last forever. If there's nothing amazing by early 2015, I can see sales dropping like a rock. Doubt it will happen though. There's just too much support behind the system from third parties.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did. We've already seen Nintendo doing 180 in terms of sales. Wii U is the cheapest console of this gen to manufacture, they can afford price cut to happen much quicker and to be more aggressive than the competition. Also Nintendo is the company of one/two killer games, which save the day. The problem with the Wii U is, those killer games haven't happened yet. But this year, we'll see plenty of candidates.

So I'm not making any bold predictions, because, it's impossible to predict the outcome of this 8th gen battle so early. Nevertheless, after all that doom and gloom surrounding Wii U, I wish they were somewhere at the top of this gen (just to annoy all haters).

The Wii U had bad press before it launched.
