Forums - Microsoft - why are people against having a kinnect free xboxone?

LOL as it says in the original post Kinect 2.0 has no games when it was forced and now that it is optional you think it will? You do not need it for Voice commands (voice commands are worthless anyway) and motion navigation is also a fail.... The ONLY thing it would be good for it those times you misplace your controller and are watching Netflix or something. So you can start the next show without the controller. PSMove has a bigger future than Kinect as well with VR (which I am also not a fan of....)

Well I clearly struck a nerve. Okay buddy, the PSMove has a very bright future. Even brighter than Kinect... mmmkay.

I'm gonna walk away now.

This whole "well now what can xbone do to separate from ps4" stuff is silly though. People will buy one or the other based on what people always buy consoles for: games. Only now you can remove a huge price difference as a barrier.

If there is really no distinguishing feature of XBone, it becomes superfluous as a console in it's own right,
it's exclusive games may well have attraction, but everybody would be better off if MS just published those games on PS4.

As to the "video camera for voice recognition" thing, besides the obvious silly conflation of video with audio,
Sony can do the same exact thing, it's just a matter of improving the voice recognition which they already have,
which can be done thru ongoing software updates (and they have said that doing so is their exact plan).
Sony's voice recognition explicitly works with either their camera attachment OR any other microphone (e.g. headset).

Why would everyone be better off playing them on PS4? I prefer Live to PSN and I prefer the Xbone controller. And who is to say MS steps up to the plate and pays for development of great games like Dead Rising 3 or Titanfall if not to improve their stable of games over the PS4?

And good for Sony that they can do the same thing. Not sure what that has to do with Kinect though.

I don't know anyone against it.
Its a good thing. It may not be the best value deal since the Titanfall bundle for $449 is much better value, but for people not interested in kinect and Titanfall, the kinect free X1 is good.

Because now the X1 is just a PS4 with lesser graphics. The integrated kinect was the One thing that made the difference.

Struck a nerve? I could care less about Kinect or the PSMove. Sony is wasting their time with VR just like MS wasted their time with Kinect.

It's never been about just games. The only thing Kinect removal did was lower the entry price.

A temporary solution to a greater problem.

As a brand PS is just larger, more well known World Wide.

Even in the US, where Xbox is a major contender, it only got that way because of the advantages the 360 had and the disadvantages that the PS3 had.

This gen, the XB1 basically has few real advantages, and when I say real I mean not inherently subjective and equal more or less. With this definition that leaves the XB1's advantages in its media features and Kinect. With the removal of the Kinect, the price becomes more competive but value is decreased as well and the Kinect advantage is basically nullified as it becomes a subjective issue just like Live vs PSN or PSExclusives vs XB Exclusives. Specifically Kinect vs PS Camera.

Not to mention that PS4 has virutally none of the disadvantages of its predecessor.

This is not a pretty picture for the One, and while it doesn't mean that the XB1 will flop, it does mean that it will face competition approaching that of the PS2 even in its strongest region, the US.

Wow, that seriously hurt.

No need to be overtly cruel.

Live Gold vs PSN I guess is subjective preference, but Xbox layout controllers are easily available for PS4.
If you really find no value in a PS layout conroller, you can sell the included one to somebody else,
or buy a store display/refurb like this for just $329 without a controller and spend the difference on a Xbox layout PS4 controller.
MS did NOT pay for Titanfall development, it was already funded by EA, and MS progressively paid for launch and then total exclusivity.
Titanfall's lackluster engine was in fact chosen because it happened to be well optimized for PS3, originally a target platform.
Regardless, if those games sell then there is no reason they cannot be funded on a commercial 3rd party basis,
if they don't sell (or have prospects) then they aren't really adding much to the console in terms of popularity.

I mentioned voice recognition because it seems to be the one thing people usually bring up about Kinect that they actually like,
although of course it doesn't have any inherent tie to what Kinect's hardware does, that is the popular association,
that is the one concrete thing that does seem to be popular, what with the lack of actually compelling games strongly utilizing it.
