Ihs estimated the cost of the Kinect being ~75$. Assuming that MS does NOT want to take a loss and retail price is 499 for the kinect sku, its more than reasonable to conclude that including everything that goes into the retail price of the One that the Kinect could only cost less than 100$.
Given this, I'd argue that MS could afford the loss, imo of course.
Furthermore, I already know that my argument is irrelevant especially when I stated this in one of the post you quoted in this thread. But irrelevancy does not mean it is not valid. I am simply an objective observer.
Sure, those who we're commited to purchasing an XB1 and only held back by the Kinect will take the plunge, but when you have someone trying to decide between the PS4 and the XB1, then the PS4 has multiple real advantages:
more power -> better multiplats
PSNow
more indie support
worldwide popularity <-> brand
etc...
While XB1 has:
hdmi in -> dvr
snap

ok, thats fair i guess, i was really only talking about the kinect thing, its your opinion that they could afford the loss, is my opinion that they couldnt other wise why NOT take the loss.
But heres the thing about your list of advantages, they are still advantages whether Xone had Kinect or not, which is shows in sales. I dont think Kinect with xone even at 400 would have negated much. IMHO you are kinda overestimating the importance and influence of Kinect. Especially since MS themselves havent done much with it. That whole Kinect is intergral to xone was just PR lies which is what i was intially thinking, and the fact they removed it so fast kinda proves it.
i don't know why people have a problem with it hell i am planning on getting on without the kinect and if it weren't for the bundle i would of just thrown kinect in my closest since i have no room or interest for it
