Seriously though you shouldn't ad home consoles and handhelds together, even worldwide and without counting Wii that would mean a massive decline purely because of the fall of handhelds(and rise of phones/tablet). If we look purely at home consoles PS4+Wii-U probably won't be far off PS3+ Wii in the long run. |
PS3+Wii did 23M
PS4+Wii U will be luck to cross the 12M line

That's way too low, Wii-U is already closing in on 2m. It still has it's biggest games coming and a lot of room for price cuts. Wii-U alone will sell 4m to 5m at the very least.
PS4 has just begun and no notable games have launched yet that appeal to the Japanese market. And don't forget it launched in February, it hasn't seen a holiday season yet in Japan. Even the Wii-U was doing 3k in October last year and enden up selling more than half of the years sales in November and December.
Without any major competition i still expect the PS4 to outsell the PS3. Give it a year and things will look very different.
