Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii U (and gaming in general) too weak for the Pokemon game we all want?

i see no problem in make the first game with only 151(and a few more, including their evolution, megas, and 6th general mechanics) pokemon.
Make red/blue (re)remake, but the way we want.(as described in this tread)
2 years latter make the gold/silver (re)remake, as and adictive game(all kanto is there, you can restart a new jorney in johto, and after finishing, you get what you had in kanto).
2 years later, ruby/saphire, 2 year DP, more 2 year BW and XY.

I don't think any Pokemon fan would have an issue with that, because it isn't pretending that Pokemon hasn't progressed past 1997. The game these guys want isn't that, though. No megas. Eevee only has 3 evos. Electivire doesn't exist. Dark is still a purely "special" type. No such thing as natures, EVs, special abilities, interest.

Is that what you heard? This is what I heard.

...

You do realize that that is more than 151 Pokemon, right? There are 45 newer Pokemon that are evolutionarily related to the first generation pokemon that were released after the first generation of Pokemon and would have to bring along every single one of the mechanics I just described because they directly relate to how they'd evolve and change.

That's 196 Pokemon. So yes, that's what I heard.

I predict a big E3 announcement on this front.....

Not really.

My pants moisten at the thought... But I think it'll just be the Pokemon Fighting game... Which I'd still be pumped for since I love fighting games, especially if I could use my favorite Pokemon, Toxicroak lol.

Gen 1 wasn't that good. It was just first. Ugly designs. Poor programming. God awful AI decision making.Lacking future improvements in mechanics. Way overpowered psychic types. No exp progress bars.

Updated in the Gen 3 remakes it was fantastic, though. And I still find Red charming. But it objectively is far worse than any later gen. Later gens are also usually more fun now.

Back on topic, I think the general sort of game you're talking about could be done. Maybe if a few corners are cut. But it would be so expensive to make it good. It would run fine, but it would be a huge file and the most expensive thing Nintendo has ever done. Plus bug testing on that... revelopment cycle would be many many years.

If we could only combine the CLOUD and the CELL...

Yeah I could see that. It sucks, because a franchise like Pokemon can afford to take that kind of risk on budget.

The OG Gameboy could give us a Pokemon game we all wanted. Pretty sure the WiiU could do it too.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It's not too big for the systems. It's too big for developers. Like that proper FFVII remake.
