Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii U (and gaming in general) too weak for the Pokemon game we all want?

I probably worded that wrong. I mean the whole world out would have to be modeled to be big enough to fill a 700+ Pokemon population plus and entire human population, on top of being dense and filled with interesting environments. I don't mean that it would all have to be running at the same time.

I don't think there's a technical problem. Xenoblade Chronicles was on Wii and the Wii U has much more RAM and storage space.

The biggest problem would be the production costs of such a big project.

Xenoblade isn't nearly as big as this game would be. There aren't 700+ different unique monsters in Xenoblade.

Lol...I laughed at that comment... There are 160 unique monsters in Xenoblade. That isn't even counting the regular monsters.

...

160 vs. 700+. It's more likely 800+ unique models because of all of the gender/formes such as Unown and Unfesant. There's a slight difference in scale there.

Why do you think I said I laughed? There is a type of monster in Xenoblade called a unique monster.

That isn't 790 unique monster though. Most of those are just resizes/recolors.

Not sure, but Xenoblade was running on the wii, with the map the size of the japanese archapaelgo(excuse me if I spelled that wrong) so I'm pretty sure X could do better.

We only need 151 Pokémons.

Well that didn't take long for this to turn into gen wars.

I can only imagine a MMO Pokemon that would be awesome.

I, for one, would hate a Pokemon MMO.

I like forging my own story in the game, I don't need random battles from other players ruining my day. Pokemon should always have a seperated single-player and multiplayer mode in game, and I hope they keep that system. Plus any kind of MMO requires extra money to stay afloat, and the only method of geting that money that isn't free-to-play is a subscription.

I had imagined it totally different with story and all but still has MMO elements a mash up of both worlds. dont know how that would work but it sounds interesting at least in my head :D

It certainly is an interesting concept, but MMOs are so complex economically and gameplay-wise there's no way Nintendo could please all the fans. Or even the majority, most likely, especially if it has a sub.

They are still different models, have different movesets, weaknesses, and strengths.

why? why the originals? there are many pokemon from 152-721 that are better than the originals :-/

Some are fine but if it comes at the cost of having the ones that are attrocious than no thanks.

lol, yeah cuz 151>>>>>152+ -_-

i really hate that excuse, i mean gen 1 had a pile of shit (muk+grimer), a magnet (magnimite) but then people look at vanilluxe and then judge an entire gen!!!

edit: this was talking about people in general, not exactly at you. I hate the people who say "Gen1" only things, my favorite gen is 1, but that doesn't blind me!

It's not only the new Pokémons from every new generation that are attrocious. It's the incredible reasons they come up with to justifiy how they never discovered those Pokémons before. It's also everything they added to overcomplicate the lore and the plot.

And I don't see the problem with Muk or Grimer. The best Pokémon designs are the most simple ones. Not those with stripes and dots and messed up shapes on their body or Pokémon that don't even represent anything.
