Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii U (and gaming in general) too weak for the Pokemon game we all want?

It's not too big for the systems. It's too big for developers. Like that proper FFVII remake.

That's a good point. I don't know who could develop a game like this. I wouldn't want Gamefreak anywhere near it. I think the Darksiders guys could maybe do a good job. Retro oviously, but I doubt they'd do it.

Here's what we do.

Characters: They're anime! A simple character creator will work fine. What needs to be extensive is the clothes and other waerable items. This wouldn't be to demanding of the Wii U. (Though I do want highly textured anime inspired designs like Bayonetta 2)

World: Single player and story driven. The NPC's that are involved with the story will have voice acting, the ones that don't won't. There is no need to take up that much memory on disk (and strain the budget) giving everyone a voice.

However, there will also be online for leagues. You choose the town you start in, and that is where your league is. There are story driven single player champions in the league for you to beat, but your online league will be your own where up to four friends can be on the same team for other online people to battle through. The stadium and badge for your team will be customizable (with locker rooms you can also customize with whatever). Also, there will be seperate rooms for how many players are on a team so there is no 1 on 4 trainer battles.

Finally, the Pokemon themselves: Set it in a new World seperate from the handheld series and give us 151 NEW pokemon. I know this idea will upset people as one of the reasons they probably want this game is to see their favorite rendered on the Wii U, but let's allow Nintendo to be creative and give us something new. I'd rather see something created without the restraints of saying well this Pokemon has this attack, limiting creativity is limiting potential. All they need to worry about with me is if there are a diverse set of attacks that give depth to the battle system's strategy.

This would be my perfect pokemon game and could be done on the Wii U, granted we are talking a massive budget the likes of which have rarely been seen. Will we ever see it though, doubtful.

I don't know if it's been said yet but something like Ni No Kuni would be perfect for Pokemon on the Wii U. I genuinely think that Ni No Kuni is Playstation's answer to Pokemon.

Simple answer: No. It's not. Of course it's not.

Most of what you wrote wouldn't be neccessary. Different cries because one bit cry is not enough? Why? They freshened up on the old cries in X/Y for the first time, and gave Pikachu a voice. I would be perfectly happy with that.

Now, I don't know how they would solve the encounter problem, should it be random encounter or not? I don't know how Colosseum/XD did it, I guess it was random. But this would be possible. The whole world wouldn't havw to be rendered at the same time either, if you are at a sea you don't need to see what's on the other side of a big mountain (like in Sinnoh). I don't think every 700+ pokémon would be featured at the same time either, is every FFXIII enemy/creature featured at the same time? No.

What I'm saying is that it would be perfectly possible to make this game and still fulfill or exceed expectations.

Yep.

We only need 151 Pokémons.

Yep. Red Version remake in 3D for Wii U is the only Pokemon we need.
