The install base is just a cheap excuse. The real reason is: because, it's Nintendo.

I doubt it, the industry has a bias against nintendo home consoles it seems.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Wii sold 100 million+ and 3rd parties hardly cared.

sure they did, you didnt see all the dance, fitness, the Bachelor games on the shelves?

Hence my point.

elaborate. are you suggesting that no support is better than some support? Fact is alot of those games did sell well, so someone cared about them especailly considering they were so cheap to make

I am not suggesting that. Obviously Wii's 3rd party support was infinitely superior to Wii U's (but mainly because Wii U's 3rd party support is virtually nonexsistent).

Very few exceptions aside (there were some excellent 3rd party titles), everyone knows that apart from the minigame collections, partygames, and fitness/sports games, Wii got very little in the way of actual meaningful 3rd party support. The deviating titles it did get were overwhelmingly niche, spinoffs, experimental throwaways, or simply badly designed and/or rushed. Even the big-name franchises that did appear were relegated to B-teams with low budgets - resulting in games like Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, the original Red Steel, Raving Rabbids, Final Fantasy the Crystal Bearers, Castlevania Judgment, etc. ad infinitum.

This is all well-known and has been discussed to death everywhere though, so trying to deny it in any way is rather silly. Again, it was definitely better than Wii U, but as they say, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Red Steel doesn't belong here. The game sucked, yes, but it wasn't for lack of effort or budget. Ubisoft just generally doesn't do well with the genre: Far Cry is the only successful entry they ave in that genre.

12M during almost three years in the market doesn't look good to me.

im not denying anything, you are just seeing it differently. The problem is those minigame, party, fitness and sports games did GOOD, real good for what they were, better than teh actual "meaningful" 3rd party games. Wii was NEVER going to get the games that are popular ps360 cause it would be a crap version and it wouldnt have sold as well as the REAL versions and the audience is completly different. The latter is proven by how well those minigame compilations sold. So no saying that Wii didnt get meaningfull support is wrong, they got DIFFERENT support for a DIFFERENT audience.

What do you mean "return"? 3rd party companies are already supporting the WiiU with games like Hello Kitty Kruisers!

LOL never man.Third party games never sold much on Nintendo consoles to begin with.FF only sold in Japan, Madden and other sports games sold poorly and Contra/Castlevania failed to go platinum.Only Street Fighter really sold on the SNEs.Third did not sell well until PSX released, which is why every company got bigger.Since the N64 Nintendo has not gotten much third party support and never will again.
