Forums - Microsoft - People have been more satisfied with the Xbox 360 than the PS3 so are less inclined to upgrade - one of Yusuf Mehdi's opinions on sales gap

Can;t believed I missed this gem. If he truly believes that, MS needs to get rid of him quickly. They can't afford to have any delusional employees right now.

Maybe he hasn't realized that the PS4 is outselling the X1 AND the PS3 is outselling the 360. It's not like the PS3 is dead in the water and people are just flocking to the PS4. Plus, software sales are still relatively healthy for the PS3.

And it isn't only outselling the 360. So far this year PS3 has been outselling Xbox One as well. O.o

The statement is correct: 360 gamers are satisfied with the console and don't need/want to upgrade.
But he didn't get the reason. The One is inferior to the 360. It lacks services and functionality that are commonly used on the 360. Microsoft hasn't delivered a real successor. One year (and counting) of crazily huge updates and the OS is still not on par, let alone all the LIVE issues that are occurring now that haven't occurred before at all.
And games.. there's no reason to get the One yet because the 360 works better and gets almost all of the One's games.

He's good at seeing the truth but not the reason for the truth. I wonder how much he earns with a sight like that.

I haven't Read a single post after OP because i bet it's mostly filled with hate and ironic comment... But in my case it's true... I have an XBO and a 360 and beside max and the brotherhood I have yet to complete a single game on XBO or even actually actively play with it... I have S much left to do on 360 and I know if I switch now I'll never go back...

The same holds true for the major IT of people in my friend list...

Not saying he is right in regard to PS3 but 360 user have no real reason yet to upgrade that's rather accurate IMO

This explains why every 360 owner I know switched to a PS3 years ago and own or are getting a PS4 now. I don't know a single original 360 owner that still has or plays their 360.

I can possibly understand the difference in the amount of markets each console is in as a reason why the PS4 is selling more than the Xbox One but the other reason is just speculation and has no weight behind it.

Yusuf is blind if he cannot see where the gap is coming from. Microsoft gained over 50 million gamers who migrated away from Sony during the PS2 era off the confidence of getting timed exclusives and having and equal share of third party titles to Sony a year before they even launched. Launching with the Playstation puts them at a natural disadvantage especially when there was a lower price point from the competition and it yields more power.

Aside from my looking into the issues based on chart numbers I even tallied my friends and remarkably 2/3 of them owned a PS2, migrated to the 360 and then migrated back to the PS4. This means exclusives dont mean much to them and they just want the console their friends have.

Microsoft needs to expand their markets before this holiday season.

I bet you guys that Microsoft will end online support for certain games like Halo 3 and the Gears of War series to force people who want to play those games online to buy an Xbox One.

Settle for selling 50 million consoles over the course of this generation. 30 to 35 million less than XBox 360 sales tally of 83 to 85 million+. Over 5 million sales gap between XB1 and PS4 after only 10 months. Microsoft will fight Wii U for second place and just focus on being profitable.
