Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox one will catch up soon with PS4 and then outsell it in the USA

Why is it that people assume that NA is Xbox territory? NA is the most unpredictable market when it comes to company preference. One Gen it can be Nintendo, next it'll be Sony, it is never a sure thing. Hell, NA changed its mind with its fave console halfway through Gen 7, picking 360 after the market got bored with Wii. Japan and Europe are a bit easier to predict, but NA is a different story, I think this E3 will probably shed some light on who wins this region

I love the logic that people will buy the company's system they bought last generation. How did that work out for Sony after the PS2?

How about we wait for june's NPD before starting to bite the Microsoft propaganda train? Its like everyone forgets that Sony can choose to lower the price aswell, and for the price, the X1 is still the worst proposition vs power of the hardware.
Is there even a logic reason why the less powerful hardware costs the same? Kinectless, the X1 needs to be cheaper than the PS4 to have a huge impact.

This is definitly better, but it still isnt good.

Xbox 360 has dominated USA  last generation, and people forget that even with all the bad reputation, the higher price cut X1 didn't sell significantly less than the PS4 in here.

PS2 dominated the entire world, including the US the generation before last. The PS3 lost marketshare, but at the same time still caught up in total units to the 360.

In the USA, as of today the Xbox one only sold  approximatively only 11 % less than PS4 did

And for the last few weeks X1 sold on par or even slightly more than the PS4.

That happened in TitanFall Week, and supply constrained December.

Now that the price cut has been announced, as well as Halo and the ability to run IE and netflix without paying for gold, I expect it to sell a lot more.

IE is crap, Netflix has been free on the other platforms for years. Only Halo really has a possible effect, but the one coming out this year is a remake not 5.

A considerable advantage is that all these announcement, especailly the price cut will convince a lot of xbox 360 owners to upgrade, and considering how well xbox 360 sold in USA, there are many of them.

Most of the Xbox Dedicated already bought a One, why do you think they would wait on 360 for silly console exclusivity.

The current difference between PS4 and X1 in the US is  322004 units.

And its growing.

That means that if xbox starts selling 10k more than it does currently,  (only a 20 % increase in sales) or about 60k, it needs only  32 weeks, or 8 months to catch up. Considering that it will sell a lot during Christmas, It will have more units sold in the US by January 2015, and start outselling it from there.

Because PS4 sales aren't moving either.

After that it will slowly grow and eventually sell more long a term considerably more than the PS4.

Because Sony will just let that happen.

Your reasoning is flawed, it is based on incorrect or irrelevant information.

Not globally, it has a shot in the US though. (Not a guarantee but a shot)

Your analysis of how long it will take is extremely flawed considering may sales should be abysmal for the xb1
