I'm asking this because I know some here do it but is it actually worth it? Sure you don't miss out on anything that way but its just so expensive to own them all.

Currently I own 3 of the 5 8th gen consoles. Vita, 3DS and Wii U. All are good in their own way but i find myself playing more on Vita than the other 2 due to trophies and PS+ so despite how good games are on Nintendo systems since they also have backwards compatiblity too, so some may see it as a waste but they still get played a fair bit. But anyway PS4 is likely to be my next console after this at some point, that is guarentueed after how satisified i was with PS3. So i'm wondering if its worth getting an Xbox One down the line too? Since it looks like an increasingly appealing console with its own exclusives and now that we don't have to have kinect too, it basically costs the same as PS4.

This isn't an Xbox One or PS4 thread by the way, I just if people thinks it worth owning everything if you see something you want on each console.

I bought Vita for Uncharted mainly and 3DS and WIi U for Nintendo games such as Mario Kart and Donkey Kong.

Although to make it clear. PS4 appeals to me more than Xbox One due to its upcoming exclusives such as Uncharted and the order 1886 while right now Xbox One looks quite good on that front too with Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break coming. At £350 plus subscription before a game, its hard to know if its worth owning both for those different titles but nevermind. Its a shame Microsoft didn't do backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 which I missed too so far.

Also, i'm sorry if this kind of thread has been done before but i'm just interested to see what people think.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

The only time I didn't buy every console was back in the PS1 era and that was because I was a kid and my parents refused to buy me a second console. Ever since then I've owned every console because I could pay for them myself. I'll always buy Sony first since they're my favorite, but that doesn't mean I won't get Nintendo or Microsoft consoles. don't own a WiiU yet but I will eventually. Why deny yourself great games?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I understand that but I guess I should just wait a while. I certainly have the means to pay for them myself but when they cost nearly £400 each without a game it's a bit much although certainly tempting. I somehow think Xbox 360 is a better choice than either PS4 or Xbox One right now though but they seriously need to cut the price for it. I don't know how its still £200 for 250gb, just mad.

If there's good games, it's worth it. It's as simple as that!

I would say no. You have to consider the price for hardware, online subscriptions.Do you have enough time to play all the games? Is it worth all the money 350+ for an extra console just for a few exclusives? It always best to get it end of gen when it's dirt cheap. I got my Wii for 40 pounds.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Yes I think so, just not all at the beginning of the generation. The Wii U is the last console I will ever buy at launch

People need to understand that worth = subjective. No one can answer that for another person.

If M$ launched with it's original Xbone plans and policies, yes. Since M$ is doing all of these 180s trying to match PS4 to please people who probably won't even be buying the console in the first place, the answer is No. M$ is trying to fight a losing battle if they want to compete in graphics and sweep Kinect under the rug like it never happened.

IMO...

It's not worth getting them all at the beginning of a gen. Considering my gaming tastes, I would:

- Get a PS4 mid 2014
- Get a Wii U early 2015
- Get a X1 late 2015 or early 2016

But I think if someone owns all of these right now and doesn't game on PC then he is not being very rational. I played Dark Souls 2 on PC on my TV with a 360 controller and it was a cheaper and better experience than on last gen consoles. Ok, it game out a little late, but there are many games that are cheaper/better on PC and launch at the same time - you don't even need an expensive PC for this to be true.

Is it worth it? Yes, do you need to? probably not.
