I owned all the consoles last gen, but I hardly touched my Xbox.

I might get an Xbox One down the road, but it probably won't be until near the end of the gen, unless Microsoft has some great JRPGs that they are hiding.

It depends on how much money you can spend on gaming a year and how much free time you have. Personally, I'm 17, go to school and have no job. I can only buy 4/5 games, PS+ and DLC (€240+ a year), so for me obviously no. But if you have the money to spend €1000 a year on gaming and have a shit load of time, sure, why not?

PS4 and X1 both have paid online, so there's a major factor that makes me not want to get both.

Yeah. I believe the official price for PS+ is $50 a year, and XBL Gold officially $60, so that would cost you $110 a year on subscriptions alone, a lot of money for a lot of people.

If you really like/want the exclusives for each sure. However, with MSony both having paywalls, I'm thinking dual ownership will be down as compared to last gen.

Depends.

a) Are you well off and have money to throw around?

b) Have enough space for 3 different consoles and 2 handhelds or even more if you still wanna play the last gen consoles?

c) Don't care much about trophies and achievements? Because if you want to beat a friend who has more trophies, playing xb1/360 games will take some of your time from trophy collection (silly? sure, but it matters to some people_

d) Are your game interests so specific that from all the available rpgs, you just have to play Fable 2 or Demon's Souls?

Then go ahead and by them all.

Time is definitely not a strong point in my opinion. because you can play ps3 games 24/7, or play wiips360 games twice a week.

A. Not really but I save up alot and get majority of stuff very cheap. Game prices seem to fall very quickly

B. I keep all my old consoles so it would make no difference. Although Xbox One is a bit too bulky in my opinion

C. Depends on the game and if I really enjoy then i go after the trophy list but not if it's hard. To be honest, i wouldn't care about them too much if i had Xbox too.

D. No i play alot of different games but it would be nice to someday have an opportunity to play the best Xbox has to offer someday even though it ain't a must.

In all honesty, it would probably be too much to own everything

Yes, what I normally do is buy 1 or 2 early-mid in the generation, last gen I got my Wii first then 360, then I save one for mid-late in the generation when the price of the console is down and the exclusives I want are cheap, last gen I got my PS3 in 2010 I think after the price cut and got many of the exclusives I wanted for really cheap, ie MGS4, inFamous, all the R&Cs etc.  This gen I already got my Wii U, I'm probably gonna get a PS4 this year or next year and X1 later in the generation.

As a psvita/3ds owner, I have to say that my 3ds gets almost no love. That is not because it's not good, but because gaming on a vita just feels right. Plus I have a ps3 and a pc and a massive backlog and having one too many options can be a bad thing. I know it sounds stupid, but I miss the NES days where I'd have only one game and I'd appreciate the hell out of it. Having all the consoles takes away some of the magic of gaming. I didn't list it as a point, because it's hard to explain and defend.

I'd urge you to limit yourself to one console, maybe two, if one of them is wiiu, as I assume there will be many multiplats that you'll wanna try out.

At this point for the current generation, I would say definitely not. It's probably not even worth having any current-gen consoles at this point in time IMO.

E3 will give us a better indication of which consoles will be worth having.

Is it worth paying $1,100+ for two consoles that largely play the same games plus one console that largely only plays (more) exclusives? No. No it's not.

I'm completely the same as a 3ds/ Vita owner and I just can't explain it. 3ds has way more unique titles.

Also I have to admit i mostly gamed on PS3 and PSP last generation (still the same really but PS3 + Vita) and it was kinda nice to have just them as all the 3rd party games i would get for just PS3 as i didn't have a proper PC or 360 or Wii. Its a shame as I missed out on Microsoft and Nintendo games for a while but oh well.

However for this generation I already have Wii U and unfortunately its flopping so i will miss out on a lot of games by sticking with just one. Probably just get PS4 like I planned. If had to pick either PS4 or Xbox One, it would be PS4 every time just because of its exclusives.

I feel its different with handhelds though as they take up little space so it don't matter if you own them all or not and they are way cheaper
