The creators of this game had nothing to do with FFXIII with the exception of Nomura so saying that XV will be a failure because of XIII is dumb.

FFXV is going to be everything the past 3 FF games weren't, a true FF game with Type-0/KH mix combat.

XV is already confirmed open world with drive able airships and vehicles with your classic enemies such as behemoths and leviathans. The story is going the route as the older FF games, a story about crystals, which is fine. And Nomura is directing so the story can't be all that shitty.

The game didn't start development until 2011. That's 3 years, not 8.

I won't comment about the shitty animation.

Seems like the last "talent" at SE is making this game.

"Nomura is directing so the story cant be all that shitty"

Have you played a Kingdom Hearts game before?

Can i add to that:

"FFXV is going to be everything the past 3 FF games weren't, a true FF game with Type-0/KH mix combat."

A true FF with completely different combat style...?

I don't see what's wrong here. Just because the devs want to make the gameplay evolve doesn't mean it's not a "true" FF game anymore.

In my honest opinion, a true FF game has memorable characters and villains, an amazing/breathtaking story with legendary moments, and an OST that sticks to your mind for years.
And so far, we don't know anything about these...

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

As for TLG and FF XV, I must say I don't know. FF XV seems to be very different from the previous entries, but that's not a bad thing. At all. And I absolutely love the old school FF. But I can already tell that, no matter how good the game will be, some Final Fantasy hipster fans will be all like "It's not turn based, so it's shit. NO BUY".

I don't think of myself as a hipster by any means but after decades of gaming i can tell you that turn-based has my preference by far. It doesn't appeal to me the way it 'looks' right now. Although i might just end up buying it because of it's name. Which is very very stupid and ignorant.

SE doing something different is fine but it would have been better to give something different a new name.

OT: A new FF will not flop yet, even XIII has a pretty decent fanbase and judging by the sales of FFX HD and the digital sales of ff6/7/8/9 there are still a lot of people hungering for some epicness of old.

It also has my preference, to be honest. But if, in the end, we have a game worthy of the franchise with a more dynamic combat system that turns out to be great, I'm all in.

Yup. Watch_Dogs turned out to be a HUGE flop! Let's see if the other 3 games are going to flop!

Best servered after playing Watchdogs OP.

1 down, definately another serving coming up when Destiny comes out, so dont get too full.

Destiny won't flop. It CAN'T flop. Why ? Because it's a FPS.

And it turns out that a new IP in the FPS genre, especially when it's developped by a famous studio, never flops.
And Destiny is edited by Activision (=> CoD fans are potential buyers), developped by Bungie (=> Halo fans), it's a Sci-Fi game (=> Halo fans again + Sci-Fi lovers), it supports CoOp in the campaign, it has interesting online features, etc...

On the paper, this game looks like the ultimate FPS experience. Will the game be great ? Maybe. But will it flop ? No way.

Look at TitanFall for example. A new IP, and the game isn't even that original (just add jetpacks and robots and let's go). But it is doing really good in terms of sales.
Not to mention CoD, which still sells tens of millions without changing a thing, Battlefield 4 which was broken beyonf belief but still was a success, etc...

Final Fantasy is more about the grand linear story and the epic battles rather than just the gameplay style. Every FInal Fantasy is supposed to be different. Every Final Fantasy is treated as its own game. Thats kind of why its called final fantasy, it was the last hope for Square way back when they were having financial troubles. No other franchise holds the torch more than that franchise because it represents Square as a company. The gameplay can change, but as long as it stays an RPG it will be fine. Its more about mixing up great gameplay with the epic, fantasical stories. Lets take the Last Story, for instance. It is called that because Sakaguchi-san (who made final fantasy) is still living off of glory of saving Squares collective ass with his creativity.  The gameplay was also changed up over there. Even he knows the gameplay needs to be changed for the better. If he had stayed with Square those would all have been ideas for the next Final Fantasy games instead of being Mist Walker titles.

I agree. I just doubt the excellent storytelling part in a new action-oriented FF. It's been years since I played a game that did everything so well as the older FF's. Maybe it's just personal preference but excellent storytelling is apparently very hard in games. Of course combined with characters that are interesting and a music score that pops up in your mind at the strangest times.
