This sounds much more like your opinion of these games than any sort of rational explanation for why they would "flop".
Watchdogs is already not a flop. This doesn't mean you have to like it, however.

I agree. I just doubt the excellent storytelling part in a new action-oriented FF. It's been years since I played a game that did everything so well as the older FF's. Maybe it's just personal preference but excellent storytelling is apparently very hard in games. Of course combined with characters that are interesting and a music score that pops up in your mind at the strangest times. |
Exactly. I've been crossing my fingers for months now. I really hope FF XV will finally be the game we've been expecting since FF X (I liked XII a lot, but the story/music/characters weren't as great as VI, VII, IX or X).
Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

So now you get to decide what FF is about? ;p
To me it's the whole package. And there have been tweaks since the first Final Fantasy but nothing major. I say keep on tweaking without losing how the games are played. Start a new IP if you want to get into action games.
It doesn't represent the Square we know anymore. The Square (soft) that was is gone. Long gone.
I don't believe you actually bought Watch Dogs after hating on it for all this time. Nobody buys a game for $60 if he doesn't find it appealing.
Who told you I bought it ? I have some friends who work at video games store here in France, he lends me a lot of games.
When they're priced over 30€ I only buy games I'm sure I will enjoy.

It's pretty much the same concept except it is now in a lively kind of open world. Everyone and their mother speak about the RPG aspects of Destiny but if you all go this way, even black ops is a kind of RPG. You earn exp, you improve your weapon, you can customise your stuff and characters... A lot of shit can be labeled as RPG nowaday I don't think FPS could make it big on the next generation again. Titanfall was pretty much everything that call of duty and battlefield wasn't. It was next gen, fun, fast paced, entertaining and all, and still the game is somewhat a flop. Of course Destiny is technicaly beatiful, but artisticaly it's the kind of art direction that can push mainstream audiene away. As a gamer, and a curious one, I did not see a thing in Destiny that can appeal to me. To me, from everything I saw - except powers - I see no difference between Shadowfall and Destiny gameplay wise. |

I guess that seals the deal about destiny not going to flop :P

You said you bought it in your update.
Saying Final Fantasy is dead is a joke. FFXIV:ARR is the most successful MMO since WoW and Eve Online garnering close to 2 million players (which is actually gigantic for profits). SE is profiting nearly a billion $ a year if ARR stays big even if they flop other games.
So Final Fantasy isn't even close to dead, also JRPG's have been making a comeback so I am not sure what rock you are living under...
Western RPG's are actually the ones failing lately, only big name Open World Western RPG's have seen success.
