Even the news is covering this games release, that is something usually reserved for games like GTA. This is going to be huge.

Community, three games to go.

Two games to go.

The FF is not dead, XIV is doing great even after the initial failure. Square Enix doesn't care nearly as much about a hugely risky single player FF as much as they do about the mmo which will provide revenue for years and years. You are just sentimentally attached and it's making you angry that Square isn't interested in making frequent AAA entries to the series.

Destiny will be at 8-10 million sales before good or bad word of mouth hits for the final release. So in that sense it litterally cannot flop. It can disappoint (not be a 10 year game) but flopping is already out of the question.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

dat bump man

So, what's the verdict here? Is the OP right or wrong about Destiny being a flop?

"I don't think FPS could make it big on the next generation again."

Could this actually be true? Does the floppiness of Destiny prove that the reign of the FPS is over?

Inquiring minds want to know! :O

- Destiny : A fps again. From what I saw, there's no real differences between Destiny and Borderlands 2. It's pretty much the same concept except it is now in a lively kind of open world. Everyone and their mother speak about the RPG aspects of Destiny but if you all go this way, even black ops is a kind of RPG. You earn exp, you improve your weapon, you can customise your stuff and characters... A lot of shit can be labeled as RPG nowaday I don't think FPS could make it big on the next generation again. Titanfall was pretty much everything that call of duty and battlefield wasn't. It was next gen, fun, fast paced, entertaining and all, and still the game is somewhat a flop. Of course Destiny is technicaly beatiful, but artisticaly it's the kind of art direction that can push mainstream audiene away. As a gamer, and a curious one, I did not see a thing in Destiny that can appeal to me. To me, from everything I saw - except powers - I see no difference between Shadowfall and Destiny gameplay wise.

The Destiny success story continues with 2.43 million units sold in the US in its first week. That is the biggest opening of the year and the biggest for a new IP in gaming history.

LOL, everything is wrong :P

FF XV is a visual masterpiece, new gameplay looks frikkin cool, true next gen game in my opinion

The Last Guardian is a question, but with the Ps4 fans increasing, it will probably sell 2m minimum, so not a flop either

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

LMAOooooooooooo

I love seeing you guys eat crow........

Destiny a failure ????

Hahahahahahahahaahha

- FFXV : Final Fantasy is a dead brand by now. It still can sell copies, but unfortunately FFXV is somewhat linked to FFXIII in mainstream audience's mind. Even from intersted gamers, FFXV is still versus XIII. This game has been made to be FFXIII mirrored version, made by the same company. Even if they scheduled to release on different time, people will never forget those two games were created at the same time. I have seen trailer, I have seen gameplay video, I was hyped as shit since the first trailer of this game. But time has passed, something like 8 fucking years. Gamers are waiting like dead starving werewolf around the corner, and this game is a sheep. FFXV is the last chance gamers are giving to the main FF license. Gamers and critics will not forget a single framedrop.
From what I've seen of this game, everything seem to screen previous generation. Corridor, closed space, loading time between map, crappy animation, cheesy dialogue, ill at ease kind of cutscene, no sensation, shitty storytelling quality... And I truly hope I am wrong because if you can fight like the first trailer show us, it would be enough for me. But I don't know if that would be enough for the werewolf inside of us all who want to eat Square Enix alive for all the bad they've done.

- The Last Guardian : Lol, Ico is a crappy overstimated piece of shit. Shadow of the colossus a true, real fucking master piece and still the game has sold pretty badly. People has blamed marketing, but everyone and their mother know shadow of the colossus. Every critics speaking about the game are speaking from the same voice, the game is amazing. The Last guardian has the same problem as FFXV, gamers are waiting around the corner. They won't forget anything. Plus, I think there is no more difficult task to take Shadow of the colossus following. Mainstream audience turned they back on SOTC. And still, from the three games, beating giant colossus on an open world speak to every gamers inside of us the most. The Last Guardian is about a guy and a chicken-dog kind of creature, that screams fucking flop.

- Watch dogs [Wrong] : I would have give a chance to the game if only GTA V had never existed. But GTA V maelstrom exists and a lot of PS4ONE owners are waiting for it to be released on next gen. GTA V is somewhat the final open world for a whole generation of gamers. Watch dogs is a new ip, the realisation is meh, the concept is kind of hard to understand, people don't give a fuck about hackers and everyone had understand by now that Watch dogs is not Assassin's creed successor. It's a whole different thing.

Update : Watch dogs sold a good amount of 4 millions as for now. Quite obviousely not a flop at all. I played it and I was still disappointed. I am not a huge fan of GTA, but except for the animation and sensation of the main character (Aiden) GTA V is still way superior to me.

Community, three games to go.

I think you are the FLOP, no offence.
