Found this after 3 seconds of looking. http://ps4daily.com/2013/06/sony-changed-playstation-4-drm-policy-after-xbox-one-outrage/ this is after one minute of looking So now we have Edge a respected media outlet and PS4daily.com a sony fanboy website saying the same thing... Sony exclusives being piss poor is not an opinion. There have been major complaints with every exclusive so far... I don't actually think theres a single exclusive yet that Sony can hang their hat on and say "this is why you want a PS4." Their best game scores at the low 80s on metacritic.Hell, the highest rated games are ones that no one even cares enough to mention. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4 Everything at the top is either borrowed from other platforms or indie. With the exception of an MMO you can get on the PC and a baseball game. I wouldn't call either of those system sellers. Especially since you a hardcore Sony fan don't care enough to mention the PS4's best games, why should I count them. Those three quotes of mine don't have a factual statement in them. They all start out with terms similar to "I think". Please look up the word think and fact in the dictionary. You can come back when you no longer believe those two words represent the same thing. Here's a fact check of my own so you can learn to argue properly. One if a person states something as fact then you can counter it with counter-evidence of your own. Two if nothing has been stated as fact, you can state your own opinion on what will happen and why you think that. All I did was represent an opinion which I feel strongly about. You haven't disproven a damn thing so stop acting like you have because it's physically impossible until E3 comes around. |
Lovely response. The two links you provided prove absolutely nothing. It's all speculation. They provise no evidence to support their claims. And what does a site being Sony fanboy do with the validity of their statements? I'll tell you what. Nothing.
From the three sentences I quoted, in one you use "I think" and the other two in no way are stated as an opinion. Take your own advice and try using a dictionary yourself:
"I don't know if Sony can even recover at this point"
"Either third parties have no choice but to go back and develop for Sony, or they continue throwing tonnes of exclusives at Microsoft"
They both suggest that third party support has been affected. It has not been affected at all from any exclusives on xb1 not coming to ps4. I love how you keep ignoring the fact that you stated that 3rd parties have thrown tonnes of exclusives at MS. That IS a factually incorrect statement because there hasn't been a single one released and not funded by MS. Once again, which are these exclusives? All you have to say is that you were wrong, because you clearly were. Maybe that's too much to ask though.
As for your claim that the ps exclusives are piss poor, you failed to defend it. Infamous being in the 80s and Killzone in the 70s suggest that they are good games. Not brilliant, but by no means piss poor. As for the ports, indies and games like The show, you might not be interested in them, but others are. Whether they meet your definition of "system sellers" or not, it doens't make them "piss poor".

I learned my less after two years of building up hype on the Xbox. It loses its steam around three years and then becomes complacent and uses PC games to fill in their software gaps. |
This is the same for all companies. Not sure why you try to make it seem as if Sony has some special advantage here over MS or Nintendo, they all get better software lineups after launch. And doesn't change my opinion that the PS4 lineup right now and list of known upcoming games is extremely meh.
I remember when Nintendo and Sega had the best games. You never know what the future holds.
Microsoft came out swinging with a bunch of games in the first few years of the 360 as well. Then when they decided they had captured enough of the core audience they stopped trying completely. The Kinect marked the turning point.
Now they know they need games again or the Xbox One will never fly. So of course they will push to money hat a bunch of exclusives. The second the One is considered enough of a success they will stop again and revert to pushing out one Gears or Halo per year. If that is acceptable good for you.
Sony is way more generous with their sales and free games. Sony is way more willing to try new things (Puppateer comes to mind). Sony has an almost complete monopoly on Japanese RPGs. Sony has a much larger number of first party exclusives with much greater variety. Sony doesn't stop trying to appeal to their core in the middle of the generation. Sony is unaffraid to admit gimcky motion controls are just that. Sony doesn't stop supporting their previous systems the second the new one comes out.
I understand when people want to support Microsoft but as someone who has supported them since 2001 and up until recently, I know how they work.
And personally I don't see this "amazing library of constant Xbox One games." I just don't. Final Fantasy XIV Online alone could eat up 5 times as many hours of gameplay as all their exclusives combined and Titanfall and Garden Warfare are both available with identical gameplay on the 360 as well. Really in my opinion Dead Rising 3 is all the Xbox One has going for it right now and that should have been a multiplatform game to begin with.
I cant believe you listed PVZ Garden Warfare & Peggle 2 as reasons for buying a console....

Final Fantasy XIV? Its a failed pc mmo where you have to buy the game and then on top of that pay monthly to play it. Been there done that, got my Scholor to level 40 from doing nonthing but boring 10 year old combat and fex ex questing. Uninstalled from pure boredom of another wow clone. Sorry but games like Titanfall are played way more then something like Final Fantasy XIV.

Oh, have there been any statistics released on playtime of Titanfall and FFXIV?

This is how the Internet works, my friend!

Let me prove my point on the xbox 360's huge decline of core exclusives over time. These are taken from a list from Wikipedia and I am removing games like Minecraft which was published on 360 by Microsoft bit is clearly not an exclusive. I am also removing niche exclusives like trivia games or mini game compilations that typically don't appeal to many people debating this topic.
2005: Kameo, Perfect Dark, Project Gotham 3.
Not bad, just accounts for launch really.
2006: Gears of War, 99 Nights, Viva Piñata.
Also not bad, Gear was huge. People seem to forget it takes a few years to get going.
2007: Blue Dragon, Crackdown, Forza 2, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Project Gotham 4, Shadowrun.
Huge Year. You are totally justified at this point in thinking 360 is superior to PS3.
2008: Banjoe Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Gears 2, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden 2, Viva Piñata 2, Too Human.
Still making an effort. Pretty good. Gears 2 really pushing the hype.
2009: Forza 3, Halo ODST, Halo Wars, Ninja Blade.
Less impressive. Halo and Forza. Predictable, kind of boring.
2010: Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Halo Reach.
Reach is good, the others mostly disappoint. Kinect is launched and focus heavily shifts towards casuals.
4 Kinect exclusives.
2011: Forza 4, Gears 3, Halo 1 remake.
Worn out sequels and Kinect/Media App focused E3 showings.
4 Kinect exclusives.
2012: Forza Horizon, Halo 4.
So....uh, 2 core exclusives is acceptable now? I've purchased a PS3 at this point.
8 Kinect Exclusives.
2013: Gears of War Judgement, Zoo Tycoon.
Yawn.
No Kinect exclusives.
2014: Fable 1 remake.
Rest in peace Xbox 360. We knew thee well.

Now do a PS3 list and you'll see a striking difference. More exclusives. More variety of exclusives. Increasing as time goes on, not decreasing. Most importantly the PS3 remaining stronger than ever even with the PS4 being released. Sony being incredibly clear on the fact that they still cater to the people who own their systems and giving them what they want. Not seeing them as used up wallets and discarding them or trying to take away all their consumer freedoms until they get called out on it.
