We're only 4 months into 2014 but whatever.
I really liked Nintendo's 2010 and Sony's 2013 conferences. Both of them were just so magical and well-done and HOLY HOT DAMN NEW KIRBY AND DONKEY KONG AND KINGDOM HEARTS AND FINAL FANTASY, TEARS OF JOY ARE STREAMING DOWN MY FACE.

Sony E3 really showed me a dedicated gaming console for gamers. Really enjoyed that E3

they presented it perfectly.  They could have mentioned that stuff in the begginning or off-hand.  Instead they waited till an hour in and just dropped the bombs perfectly.  Then the speech by House at the end about being all about the consumer was just epic.  Never heard such rousing applause for such a consumer victory and a surprising one at that.

The thing that conference is remembered for is basically "Fuck Microsoft, we are doing shit like Nintendo does". Or alternatively "We're going forward with what we did for the last few years, which is pretty fucking normal since there's only one company doing shit differently this time around and that company's been getting alot of backlash. Oh, and online gaming will now cost a yearly fee but, hey, at least no always online LOL".

Really, that stuff should have been expected. I was watching the conference with a few friends late in the night (I think it was 3 am here) and I didn't see anything surprising. Yeah, I liked the price, but it's not mindblowingly low or anything. The only memorable thing out of that whole ordeal was probably Kingdom Hearts 3, and I say that as someone who doesn't like Kingdom Hearts in the slightest. Oh, and maybe the FF Versus-XIII name change (lol). Those are hardly "bombs".

It was the best conference of last years E3, yes, but stacked up against the highs from the past, it's nothing. I'd even say it was rather boring to watch. And didn't they also start like 30 minutes after the schedule? I hate stuff like that. That people remeber that thing as being one of the best E3 conferences really shows how bad E3 has been recently. Or maybe it's because that one is fresh in peoples minds, I dunno.

My favourite one would be Nintendo's 2004 conference. Though I admit that I go back to the really bad ones more often than to the good ones, because those are so much more enjoyable to watch in hindsight.

Sony E3 2013. It was amazing seeing Microsoft get beat down in such a spectacular fashion. I've never seen a crowd go that wild for an E3 press conference before. Sony did what Nintendo and Microsoft utterly failed at that year. They sold us on the console. We're still seeing the effects of that conference in the sales today.
