Simple question. Do you think the Xbox One will have more lifetime sales than the Xbox 360.

Personally I don't think so. I feel the real reason why the 360 got so popular in the first place was due to Sony's many mistakes at the start of last gen with the PS3. Now that Sony has rectified those mistakes with the PS4 and has a pricing as well as a hardware advantage on the Xbone they can retain for the rest of the gen, I feel the PS4 will take the Lion's share of the market.

Assuming the ~160 million who bought the PS3 and 360 are back to buy a new console, the best case scenario I see for MS is them getting 50-60 million and Sony getting 100-110 million. So yeah, basically the Xbone won't be selling as much as the 360's ~80 million, not unless somehow the market expands radically, which remains to be seen but is unlikely imo.

Not given how things are going with no signs of them rectifying them.

Them ever breaking 50m would be a massive achievement.

I think 40-60m would be my guess, quite a range but I do feel like it will be less than 80 easily, and I think PS4 could reach 100m, but we just don't know what's going to happen in the coming years. If MS decide to handle the product like the last few years of the Xbox360 then it could fall off a cliff like the Wii.

and lets not forget x360's are not discontinued yet and I dont think the X1 will be supported as long as the 360 will be.

Not seeing it at all. I'm expecting a slight market decline (as in core and mainstream, not the soccer moms and grandpa's of Wii who are gone), and Xbone is in a worse position than the 360 was. I would even say 99% no chance of that happening, as early in the gen as we are.

i dont believe it will. mostly due to the much lower sales it will have in EU. but also the higher price tag will effect it and the most likely shorter life span. im not saying it cant, im just saying i dont think it will.

I don't think so. Yet again, I don't think this generation will pull the same numbers as the previous one. The only one I can see outselling its older brother is Ps4, and by a very small margin.

If MS never unbundles Kinect with it, then I would say never. I don't think it will reach a low enough price point to sell as much as the 360. If they do make a kinectless bundle then I'll just leave it as a maybe. I don't think it will sell as much in the regions that the 360 was available in, but it will make up some sales from new regions like China.
