Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Probably Starting Work on Just Another AAA Xbox One Halo Game

A side Halo game selling 3m is great tho? Halo Wars and Anniversary did like half of that.

I was more talking about his example of CoD... the franchise is dropping year after year in sales but well 30 million to 15 million will be a big drop but they will continue to make it becuase 15 million is yet a huge profit franchise.

CoD is not a good comparision because it is a franchise that even dropping is doing best than everything else with few exceptions (GTA only).

I think Ford should stop annualizing Mustang because it shows their lack of confidence in producing new models.

Anyway, Halo universe is vast chronologically and physically; another character to recount the saga in a different point of view is welcomed.

Personally I would love to play the enemy in the Halo Universe.  I believe MS could build a full game based on being the so called bad guy and running up against Spartans etc.  Oh well it sounds original to me.

Microsoft is going to Ubisoft halo into the ground. So desperate. Be creative, bro. LOL

More like Ubisofting Halo....all the way to the bank! ;)

As a lore fan myself, Halo fans honestly can't get enough. I ain't gettin any younger, life is too short to wait 3 years to get the next lore chapter in a rich universe. This is the best kind of fan service!

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

They will eventually, don't worry. Halo's story isn't exactly revolutionary, but its a fun game. MS is wildly dependent on that one title though. Its better that they kept it on a two year cycle.

New IP do not shift consoles.  Actually it takes a while for a new IP to become a AAA that sells a system.  Spinning off a universe is now considered desperate without actually knowing what these games will be.  You sure have a very strong opinon about very limited information.  Would we see the same opinion if Sony also spin off the uncharted or Last of us Universe.

No it doesn't.  The first Halo sold a boatload of Xbox consoles through review scores and word of mouth of how good it was.  It was an instant AAA classic.

If Sony made any of their main franchises annual I would be equally critical, it is never a good thing in terms of quality, only money

On that I must disagree. As long as the metas are at least in the 80's, and the fans get the lore they want.....milk away I say.

And if it sells some extra consoles and keeps the MP Halo Bros happy (not to be confused with campaign/lore fans), then everybody wins.

As long as they maintain quality I also have no problem. I am looking forward to Xbox One. I will get mine Xbox One early next year. Halo ODST was short but great. More treat for fans.

There are very little original stories.  People care more about a well developed universe then how original a story is.  I have never thought of the Halo story as being great but I do appreciate that its well fleshed out and have many different opportunites for content.

Sounds kind of desperate honestly. Would expect declining quality if even if they outsource some of it

ITT we learn that companies focusing on delivering games their fanbase wants is "desperate".

aka all of the big 3 are "desperate". Look at Sony about to rehash Last of Us. Mario Kart EIGHT Nintendo? So desperate.

Releasing games from the same franchise after a decent development time = not desperate

Making your biggest franchise annual because you lack the confidence and/or willing to take a risk on a new IP that could shift systems = kind of desperate

You know the rumor for Halo 5 is 2015, 3 years after Halo 4. Halo Aniversary 2, while not official, is simply a remake and meant to fill the gap. I see nothing wrong with this.

MS can announce new IP while maintaining their biggest IP by far, don't see why it can't be both and not this black and white viewpoint. As long as the main entries are 3 years apart, then it isn't desperate. Any games that come in between is fan service.

Having both is the best, I just have doubts how long MS will make new IPs into this gen after the last few years of X360
