There are way too many high profile games coming out during the fall season for Mario Kart to have a chance for GOTY. Timing is an important factor for award seasons.

True but i did the same thing last year with SM3DW (before the hype trailer in Oct), and it was roughly top 3. (#1+2 being GTAV+TLoU)
