I repeat, just for you, again, because I read:

You wrote " there is no way to be subjective if every multiplatform game released util now player better or/and have better graphics on PS4." And I told you you are wrong. Don't change your message like you want and cut quotes to make me look not understanding what you initially wrote

My message is the same since the first comment lol... I didn't changed anything.

You and others are trying to pass tecnical fact like subjective... these is no subjectivitly in tecnical facts... you can discuss better art style or I like the controller more or I love the crushed blacks... these are subjectives.

I only took a sentence of yours and proved it wrong. I don't have another opinion of subjective and objective.

That would require that devs put the option to lock the framerate.

But my dear friend Walsufnir...mhmm

They already have:

I know they got patched afterwards. Doesn't mean it's a rule devs will follow in future (and especially that means that gamers actively want a locked framerate for reasons).

Good thread. But I wonder....is Sony doing the marketing for this game?
I remember MS used to run multiplat ads with "Only on xbox live" at the end. Is Sony doing something similar, or is this pretend exclusivity simply falling into their laps?

You're half quoting. They said "Get new game content first, Only on Xbox Live"

Dangit, you're right. And games without different content just had the xbox live logo at the end.

Not sure if it is worth the investment.. How much more copies can Sony expected to say from the playstation 4 over the xbox one? maybe 500k..?

The game is multiplatform..whether they like it or not. [unlike titanfall, ms console exclusives.]

I think Sony are more interested in the hardware boost.  From the preorder numbers and the stuff that BenVtrigger said in another thread, Destiny is going to be huge and shift a lot of consoles.

True it should move alot of consoles but I am saying if someone wanted to play the game on the xbox one with their friends, I doubt they will care about the destiny on ps4 or bundled...also considering there might be a price cut for the x1 coming this fall. Is it a good move for sony? of course but will it sell that many consoles with  the game is on every single platform, i would love to see that, but i doubt it. Ps3 and xbox 360 will cut those next gen numbers by a huge margin.

What you are missing out on is there is a 100+ million console market out there that have not gotten a new system.  A Bundle of a highly hyped game can pull them out.  To say that will not have a HUGE effect and only marginal as you are saying is delusional.

every multiplatform game released util now player better ? better visuals yes, play better? ha, that's a fanboy mentality.. sorry

It is not fanboy mentality... it is a tecnical fact... better framerate give you better controller response.

lol,  oh boy, like those framerate drops ps4 had for ghost at that 1080p 60fps right?

All i am saying is play better is subjective.. ps4 has better graphics no doubt [no doubt]..play games better? not really. Anywho.. enough with that type of talk. let's not get banned. :-p

A game with a better framerate PLAYS BETTER that is technical fact.  I'm not sure what you are arguing here.  What PS4 game has lower framerate or a framerate drop the Xbox doesnt have a lower drop? one game will prove your point.  And the link to the digital foundry evidence.

There's been a lot of criteria added in order to downplay this game and I'm assuming this is being done because it's supposedly the "next big thing" and Sony hopped on it instead of Microsoft (coming from sales2099 is what led to this assumption).

CoD and GTA were "pretend exclusives" right? Oh, those aren't new IPs lacking a household name.

What about Titanfall? It fits your criteria. Oh, this needs to be a PS vs XB discussion, so it doesn't count....even though "exclusive" means only available on one console, which is what TF was marketed as, thus "pretending" to be exclusive to XBone (PR people at MS said "you'll want to buy an XBone for this game".....even though it's on 2 other platforms)

So, we need to have a completely new IP, that's marketed to either only PS4 or XBone (marketed toward XBone vs 360 vs PC doesn't count), and there's gonna be bundles, exclusive access to betas, and "exclusive" extra content (I put that in quotes because every time there "exclusive content", the other console gets it eventually).

Well, games like that aren't "pretending" to be exclusive to the bundles, betas, and DLC, so in that regard, no, it isn't a "pretend exclusive". At no point is it said that the game itself isn't gonna be on another platform. Just all that extra stuff will be exclusive. I wouldn't get Destiny on Xbone because I just didn't know it wasn't on XBone. I wouldn't get it on XBone because it didn't have all the extra benefits. And as far as the "uninformed gamer"...well, for people on the fence and they're looking forward to this game, the moment you look into preordering this game for PS4, in preparation for getting a PS4, "because I thought it was only on PS4", you'll see the XBone, 360, and PS3 option as well, at every store and online. If you don't even research the game at all and just see signs/ads in stores saying that it's coming soon, you'll see the XBone, 360, and PS3 option as well, at every store and online. You don't have to be a forum goer to know that a game is multiplatform (and not being a forum goer doesn't make you "uninformed" either). Let's just say that little Timmy only has an Xbone and sees Destiny and is in love with it. He sees the PS4 logo at the end and thinks it's only on PS4. He goes to mommy and says "Mooooom. I want that game, but I need a PS4". They go to the store and ask the clerk "Do you have Destiny?" Guess what's gonna be said? "We sure do. For XBone or PS4 (or PS3 or 360)?"

There's nothing "pretend" about Destiny, it just has the potential to be a big hit and if it is, it's gonna affect PS4 better than XBone (and you don't like that, sales). So you're making up a term to downplay the game. Just look, you put it in your sig as well, which has only had anti-PS content since you joined.  But, I mean....is there really any hype for this game, right now? I don't see media outlets having a story on it every other day. I'm not seeing it all over Game Informer. This game is operating purely on word of mouth right now, but there's no "Game of the Generation" level talk about it. So why try and undermine it?

We see a lot of terms thrown around: Exclusive, timed exclusive, console exclusive. Now here me out on the term "Pretend Exclusive".

Pretend Exclusive: A 3rd party multiplat, that releases for multiple consoles in the same window, in which all press showings and marketing are catered to only one console. Exclusive console bundles, being the lead platform, as well as timed exclusive/exclusive  betas and game content also strengthen the claim. The final effect is that the uninformed gamer will be convinced that the version primarily advertised is the only and/or best place to experience the game.

The creator of the term was Microsoft. Two big properties come to mind: GTA 4 and COD. If you remember GTA4, most of the time it was shown it was on a Xbox 360 and all marketing for the games release had only the 360 logo at the end. The games expansions were also a timed exclusive. As for COD, its E3 showings were usually at MS's presentation and its DLC is timed as well, as most commercials having only the 360 logo at the end (some years yes, some no). You can also say Titanfall is a pretend exclusive, but the game isn't available on Playstation (at least until Titanfall 2). That said, the effects and outcome remain the same as X1 is enjoying weekly boosts and software/gold account spikes.

The problem with those two is that they are both mega popular IPs and despite MS's best efforts, the general public knew the games were available elsewhere.

But Destiny, is a new IP, relatively unknown to gamers who don't frequent online gaming news sites/forums. To them, Playstation seems like the only place and/or best place to experience the game. All Destiny content shown so far has had Sony firmly at its side. Beta timed exclusive, exclusive content, and you can bet all marketing upon release will favour the PS logo. IMO, as a gamer who frequents gaming sites, I allready have the persepective that all other versions of Destiny are merely in the shadow of the PS4 version.

Do you think going the pretend exclusive route is worth the investment for high profile 3rd party releases? To me, both MS's past efforts and Sonys current one with Destiny have proved to lead to sales spikes in the games themselves. I think its worth the investment, and certainly a playfully dirty trick that will only be appreciated by the winning party.

EDIT: Watch Dogs would also count as a pretend exclusive for Sony, having invested similar time to secure content as well as showing primarily PS4 builds. IMO it just seems like Destiny has more of Sonys attention, thus the thread.

I don't agree. Destiny is obviously multiplat, and many people are excited for the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs (at least they were in 2012). So I don't think these are great examples to your point.

"First real pretend".

Fucking hell this forum needs a quality control filter for thread creation.

I wouldn't mind if it were like Reddit, with an up and down vote system (as long as people adhere to the intended rules of upvoting/downvoting). Then something like this would get buried. Self-modding, essentially. Crappy threads would never make it to the "front page" of VGC. Troll comments would get downvoted to oblivion and eventually blanked out due to downvotes. Dupe threads would get lessened because the topic being upvoted will be seen clearly, instead of having to search for it. And the best threads and comments would get upvoted.
