Never going to get more attention than the big 2. I do believe it would create more buzz if they actually do a conference for a change. This way it's just "Oh Nintendo is doing a direct again at E3. Who cares, let's watch the real conferences"

i'm really trying to remember anything about nintendo's E3 last year. other than they didn't have a presentation i can't remember a damn thing. well, i also remember them having best buys feature their games and then seeing the list of best buys and thinking now way am i traveling 45 miles to do that as barely any best buys did the promotion.

Depends mostly on what interests you and that leads to selective memory. I for one remember most of the things they announced in the direct. On the other hand, the biggest thing that came out of PSXBO conferences was that PS4 doesn't have DRM and will maintain the status quo.

There has been great conferences. 2004, 2006, 2010: Especially the last one. It has more games than the last year and doesn't have 30 minutes of boring press talk.

It just marks with really big red letters how Nintendo aren't even trying to compete with both Sony and Microsoft. And then Nintendo fans complain that they get bad/no press and Nintendo is constantly treated as the odd one out.

This. Some complains Nintendo get a bad treat by press, but they prefer to do this? This is the same as third parties.

I'm actually glad to be the odd one out.  It seems I share less in common with most Sony and Microsoft fans on this site.  They might look down on me on this site but in real life I would look down on them (because I'm taller).
