Are you being serious? As far as I know Nintendo is a publicly traded company whose main purpose is to maximize profits for their shareholders, not a charity organization.

They want every PS and Xbox gamer, their moms, aunts and pets to buy Nintendo hardware and software as well as everyone else in the world. The paths to make it happen might be the point of discussion, but the objective is clearly that one. If Iwata has mentioned otherwise, then I would expect him being sacked as the CEO of the company ASAP.

The fact that you 'concede' the PS/XBox market to be something apart is the same reason why I'm saying Nintendo needs to step up to their credentials in E3.

I do have a PS4, a Vita, a 3DS and a gaming PC (plus all previous gen consoles and have been gaming since the NES days). I spend a ton of money in software every year. Are you saying that Nintendo shouldn't appeal to me anymore? I find it a terrible shame that the general consensus among the most loyal Nintendo fans is one of separation from the rest of the gaming market instead of trying to include everyone. The results of these policies are plainly visible nowadays.

Also, I never said they don't sell a lot of 3DS, but their market has shrunk in the recent years also in the handheld department, which they have led since the early days of the gameboy.

Sorry, I didn't realize that targeting segments of a market made you a charity. Are you upset Mattel is not presenting Barbie at E3 this year?

As for you as a Nintendo customer, you are a Nintendo customer. Why would they have to win you over? They release games that appeal to you, which don't require the appeal of the bulk of PS4XB owners (the proof is in the different content).

Inadvertedly you picked the perfect example to prove my point exactly. Mattel are not a player on the videogame industry, so they aren't supposed to be in E3, on the other hand they are in the toy manufactoring business. If all they did was Barbie, then I would hand it to you for having a point on this one, but look how diverse their product line is

No big corporation will ever look to shrink their market the way you are assuming Nintendo is/should. They used to be, along with SEGA, the 2 main players in the industry. They have the history and back catalog (not just 1st parties, but 3rd parties too) to remain a big player. It's a damn tragedy the point to which they got by completely giving up on attempting to keep the core market they used to have with games like Metroid, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Earthbound, etc.

But anyway, I think you see what I'm trying to express here. It just bothers me to see the bipolar attitude on the Nintendo fanbase, half of the people demanding the type of support from publishers and media that Sony and MS get, the other half saying they aren't competing. If they really aren't competing I would suggest completely removing the WiiU and 3ds from the charts here in the mainpage and put them in a section by themselves while we're at it.

Nintendo rules!

oh dear. Nintendo is the company who most atempts to keep their core market, and suceeds.

its by far one of the stupidest decisions made by nintendo in recent years. They learned nothing from last year.
